Hi, Apologies up front for posting to the wrong topic or covering something which may have already been discussed.
But my frustration has pushed me to breaking! I’ve had 2024 since Wednesday, NZ time. Since, I’ve been trying to alter all of my settings using my Velocity One Flight stick, Keyboard and Mouse, Xbox X. So time consuming and incredibly frustrating when all I want is to get something up in the air. I don’t understand why MS has made this so hard. Or is it me?
Velocity One is difficult to set up as it is. I thought I’d had most things in line but my mouse settings have proved to be the hardest. My cockpit view resets to a view of the cockpit roof as soon as I touch it and is very sensitive to adjust, If I get it back to front facing, as soon as I touch it, it reverts to the roof view.
Is there a fix for this? One that might transfer all settings from 2020 to 2024?
My next step is to delete the sim and go back to 2020.
Hi @Quack57 and welcome back to the forum,
Your post has been moved to the User Support Hub User Interface & Activities that is more appropriate for community support.
Regarding:
As of today there is no such tool, see related wish:
While bouncing between experimenting with 2024’s xbox crazymouse phenomenon and actually flying in 2020 I came to a conclusion.
The best 2024 control scheme for me would be to completely carry over my 2020 scheme and lose all the new 2024 specific commands. I.e. give up walkaround, photos, etc. and spend the next year or 2 custom binding them - if I feel inclined. Free Flight is my world.
How?
The tech is there. Forza Motorsport has been importing player created liveries from one game to the next since the X360 days - before cloud gaming/ streaming. They are a MS studio so its easy to ask them how.
The easiest method could be to save it on the Xbox and import from there - or in the regular Xbox cloud data sync location that games like Starfield and Battlefield use.
For PC - I believe someone made a 2020-2024 bindings importer for PC. So it’s possible.
With the tech in place, you can code a 2020 patch to export the control settings and a 2024 patch to import them and parse into general, airplane and airplane specific settings. Ideally it should be user repeatable and perhaps two way.
This would significantly unburden sim cockpit builders and mouse/ keyboard/ hotas/ Xbox pilots like myself and let us fly instead of fiddle with settings.
I’ve found that the transversing the keyboard from 2020 settings isn’t perfect. It could be user error here, maybe I’m doing something wrong.
As for the Mouse problem, To explain, I use the mouse, as well as selecting items in the menus, when in the cockpit I use the Mouse to wave over the instruments and select button pushes etc, the mid-click changes the Mouse to look left, right, up down etc. Really helpful. It’s this setting that I can’t duplicate in 2024. I’ve tried to visually copy settings from 2020, but the descriptions of actions between the two sims is quite different. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your replies people, much appreciated.
Dear all. I also feel confused and can not set it up for a week now. First, I use Velocity one system and the description field does not show the yoke or quadrant, which at least would help me follow the assigned commands. Second, I also noticed some of the assignments are just not working. Might be my confused attitude. But, third, I would so much like to have 2020 transfer possibility to 2024. Please MS. Thank you
