Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

Just done (Not completed) a 2 and a half hour flight from Madera to LGW with the new sim update released today.
CTD around 80 miles from LGW. Was all going quite well up till then.
Vanilla installation, no addon’s what so ever installed.

One step forward two back with this.

Logged in after recent patch (21 May): launched my flight, heard crackling sound but did not crash.

Started my checklist, started up my A320. Looked down from overhead panel to switch to Start and then fire up both engines: none of the cockpit panels were working.

Left game. Reloaded my saved flight plan and clicked Fly. Started loading… crackling sound… game crashed.

This is now infuriating. Remained steadfastly patient and optimistic. Respectfully, I’ve had enough. Sorry, I just had to say it.

Take care.

2100 posts in less than a month. I hope the developers are aware of this, and the level of frustration.

And respectfully, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, it is nothing to do with third party addons. If it were, then you wouldn’t have people with zero addons suffering CTD’s.

I have not had a crash today, but being realistic, that’s unlikely to last.

This should be one of the issues that is prioritised by Asobo, and I hope it is. It needs to be dealt with, ideally very soon.

I really don’t get it man. Especially with the latest patch installed, people still have CTD’s. On Xbox. On a closed system where we all have the same hardware.

This must be very, very complex software. Or are there differences in Xbox units, the way they are manufactured?

It really doesn’t and its one of my fave scenery addons -too bad the sim strokes out everytime I fly close to the city. I’ve got a good number of addons, but Chicago Landmarks is the only one that CTDs consistantly. I’m on xbox, so I’m not sure if the crashes I’ve been getting are affecting those on PC.

Do you have WU9 installed or no?

I have World Update 9 installed of course.

The problem is not the hardware but the software configuration. No two games are the same because everyone has a different combination of add-ons installed. Even when people think they have the same stuff, their add-on history, their settings, their internet connection, the files in their cache etc. are all different. And literally no one knows what exactly leads to a given CTD. Not to mention every flight is different. Location, weather, anything can be a factor. Every CTD could be caused by something different.

I know that prior to Sim Update 8, for example, I had frequent CTD if I used live weather. If I continue having crashes now, I’ll try flying without it again to see if it resolves it. But that’s just my experience. Other people may have completely different causes. Since we can’t get any kind of error logs on Xbox, there’s no way to tell.

OK. I haven’t installed it yet. Just tried a test flight and everything was perfect! No dropped STAR waypoints. No stuttering on the world map and my keyboard and mouse are working perfectly!

My only issue is the GPS waypoints are not displayed on the world map. The result is the flight path is not as detailed. I can live with that for the time being, but it needs to be addressed.

I don’t know if anyone wants to try this work around too, I have literally just turned off Multiplayer and the game has been as smooth as butter. This is of course after trying the deleted reserve space etc.

Game has been butter smooth since turning it off. Also, I have all my downloads re-downloaded.

Just had a good IFR flight in the TBM - with AI Traffic and Real World weather all on, replicated the EGGP EGJJ route that someone tried yesterday…
Pretty smooth all the way - but ( as I noticed just before the horrible stutter fest yesterday) some of the airfield icons on the G3000 MFD started to pop in and out in a random way - also got a few of the puzzling icons appearing again - I’ve included the screenshot from yesterday’s flight. Now whilst on its own it’s a minor issue, I wonder whether it’s a symptom of an underlying memory issue that is causing wider problems?

The stock G3000 is garbage mate so it could very well be that.

Pleased you had a trouble free flight.

Very well explained. All i know is that ad-ons, and scenery and airports in particular are very tricky. Especially when it is not tested properly…

Things are looking up a bit for us Xbox users I think?

I will personally be (very) cautiously optimistic, I had a good day yesterday but what we Xbox users really need is some semblance of consistency.

Agree - let’s see. One of the reasons I came to Xbox from PC was that on PC these days to maintain decent performance you need a big budget and a lot of time to configure and fiddle with HW settings on the PC as well as the slider tweaking we’ve been reduced to on Xbox. Whilst obviously we can’t start tinkering with our hardware, I do hope we don’t end up having long forum threads and tutorial vids showing how to get another 6 FPS out of the sim on Xbox.
The massive difference in outcomes from small differences in SW configurations shows that the SW is acting as an unstable complex system - in my opinion efforts need to be focussed on making it stable again - let’s hope control of the SW config hasn’t been lost, as if that’s the case SU10 is likely to break more than it fixes.
At least the development t team are communicating with us and are focussed on the Xbox issues. That’s a massive improvement and I welcome it and thank them all for their efforts so far.
Right, I want to go flying this afternoon

Had a few flights last night. Bush flights around Australia. All smooth, no problems.
