after the last update, the shadows on the water is a total disaster…
I hope it will be fixed soon…,
and this is not a way how to improwe performance and lower standards…
It would be nice if water looked like water. The ocean looks like a pond, no texture or motion, This is what I miss from P3D, but I suspect it is on the to do list
Actually, I’m liking the water at the moment, I commented on this yesterday during a small group flight. It maybe a case of what each of use expect/prefer, or maybe something changed in your set-up.
Or maybe I’m easily satisfied!
I usually turn off shadows but that is me. When banking for an approach it is nice to see the motion of the water. The color looks great
A couple of screenshots of exactly what you’re seeing would help to see if it’s significantly different than what others are seeing. Then we can start comparing other settings, issues, etc.

I have wondered how to do a screen shot, is there a hot key. I have been using my cell phone
I use winkey+ALT+PrtScrn , and it puts the shot into the “captures” folder. But there are many different programs that use different keys.

I dont talk about water… but shadows on it from clouds…
If you have an Nvidia card, the GeForce Experience overlay lets you take screenies with one hand - Alt+F1.
this is no need to make any shots… it is obvious that after su 5 it is downgrade a lot…
Iam since alpha with msfs... and I know what Im talking,
Shadows on water was very good quality till su 5… now are pixelated and looking like a stains …
I can also confirm this downgrade. I’ve been playing since release and immediately noticed this as well. Essentially the reflections on water have much less detail compared to pre-sim update 5, even on Ultra.
Still waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting on Asoso/Microsoft to comment on the multitude of visual downgrades for PC users since Sim Update 5.
Have you guys tried setting your graphics to for example medium, then saving and after that, turn to ultra back again and saving?

Of course screenshots help. It’s not at all certain that this issue affects everyone.
Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. Haven’t really looked at cloud shadows so can’t comment.
I don’t know how it looks now either since there are no pictures ![]()
Can’t start the sim and check at the moment.
Windows Key + Print Screen should be enough to put a screenshot into a separate folder in “Pictures”.
Turn up the wind layer at ground weather to see waves in the water.
I’ve been trying to reproduce this by setting a manual time and cloud layers. This is what I’m seeing:
Sun behind a very big cloud:
Sun behind a small cloud:
Evening Sun behind clouds:
Is the issue visible here or not? I think these look great, but I can’t get it to look any worse, either.
If I turn the view 180 degrees there’s nothing weird there, either.
I’m not being a “smart ■■■”, I literally don’t know what is wrong with that, and that is why I asked someone bothered by it to point it out earlier. All I see is reflections of the blue sky and reflections of white clouds.
I thought it might have been this issue as that shows up on both the sky and the ground, so perhaps it’s visible on water too.
looks fine to me.
