Shape shifting LOD driven ground tile cracks

While searching for more tile cracks like the one discussed here …

… I stumbled over a different category of ground tile cracks, just east of KTUS at the end of the aircraft graveyard:

They look blue-ish or close to black and pop up all over the place … and if “Ultra” or “Low-res” is selected does not really matter. In “real world” size they are pretty big, as you could easily push a fleet of those B-52 bombers through such a (blue) crack.

They typically “heal” when the camera gets closer and reemerge as I move the camera back away again. So they are clearly driven by the “Level of Detail” algorithm which performs the ground mesh adjustment.

By their “nature” they are similar to the cracks which pop up in water areas … so I guess both have a similar underlying cause inside the game engine code.
