If you guys remember FSX, shared cockpit was amazing and simply worked!
My nephew who is a pilot taught me with how to use GPS/Autopilot in Shared Cockpit. Think about what a great learning tool this could become!
So you load the sim wait for your friend at your favorite airport you see him taxi over to you and you walk 3rd person to his plane and get on passenger side! Now your in the seat and the learning can begin. He gets in the air at a safe Alt and hands the controls over to you! HUGE Opportunity for Learning! I don’t think you guys know what an important Tool this could become!
Here is a video actually showing Shared cockpit setup and operation!

Hi Jay!
Yes I learned a lot on Shared Cockpit.
To be fair The Microsoft FS 24 team did admit they had issues.
I say we give them as much Positive Feedback as we can and I know they have a lot on their plate, but I think they will correct it and give us our Wishlist Items.
Speaking of Issues I have 2 monitors that I use with FS and if I move the EFB 2 my second monitor on the left, it makes the EFB super laggy and unusable! I will report it once I figure how to do it.
(We) my small group of older flight sim guys are always looking for pilots to fly flight plans in Multiplayer, if you are interested please add me on the xbox game app PC and on FS2024. That goes for any older pilots that are looking for a slower more mature experience in FS2024 Multiplayer.
Thanks much!

Hey Microsoft and Asobo,

Regarding shared cockpit in Microsoft Flight Simulator, it’s about time this feature gets integrated as a default, official game mechanic, and not just something players have to improvise. It fits so well within the experience, and at this point, it’s somewhat long overdue.

There’s been consistent demand from the community, with mods like YourControls already showing a glimpse of what’s possible. It’s clear that multiplayer flights would be much more enjoyable with players assuming full roles in the cockpit. Whether for team flying or simply better immersion, shared cockpit is a natural fit for the type of experience MSFS is known for.

We know you’re working on cool features for MSFS 2024, but please, consider prioritizing shared cockpit as a must-have feature.

It’s the perfect way to make the simulator even more engaging and fun for everyone.

Is Planned for a future update for MSFS 2024

They said they ā€œplannedā€ for shared cockpit from day one of FS2020 and while I agree this is a must have, I bet anything you like we will never see it :frowning:

I’m still really eager to see this function added in MSFS 2024. I hope it’s still on the to-do list

I totally agree with you—it’s frustrating to hear that shared cockpit was ā€œplannedā€ from the start of MSFS 2020 but still hasn’t materialized.

Back in the Feedback Snapshot from April 22nd, 2021, they said shared cockpit was planned for release between 2021-2022.

It’s disappointing that we’re now heading into MSFS 2024 without any real progress or updates on this.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if the timeline for this feature eventually shifts to MSFS 2028 or something.
It’s a shame!

Asobo has done a titanic job in bringing us the most advanced simulation experience possible, and I’m as grateful as I imagine many simmers are !

However, I’m still convinced that the shared cockpit is THE feature that must take precedence over all others, even if the latter are just as useful in ensuring the quality of the simulation. They can offer all sorts of interesting features, but players will always be left wanting, and will always feel that the simulation lacks salt until the shared cockpit is natively integrated into the simulation.

This feature must be a priority for the development team.

Looking forward to this too. It would be a great way to teach a friend how to fly, and overall it will just be a better experience.

I’m wondering: are the votes for the wishlist only being counted starting from the release of MSFS 2024 on November 19 ? Could this be why shared cockpit, is missing ?

Hi @Alizuka
I think the reason that the charts just showed just 2024 items in the last update was those were of specific interest to the community at the time. Wishes made before 11/19/2024 (i.e. for MSFS 2020) are still valid.

Hiya mate, good to see you are still pushing.

I have lost faith though. I do not think this is ever going to happen sadly. It would be nice to know where it stands and I am a bit disappointed considering we are 4 years on from when this wishlist started…

That said I understand that the Dev’s have other priorities that go above my own wants and needs, but I find it sad that I will never fly with my uncle on the sim. I have since gone off the game while literally holding out for years for this to be implemented and I have since uninstalled 2020 and won’t bother with 2024 either.

I think its better to accept now that it’s over. I hope I am wrong. I think an update in one of the dev blogs (or even a quick 30 second reply here) would be much appreciated by this section of the community who still want to see it happen…honesty is the best policy.

Cheers mate

They said they had a proof of concept that showed some basic functionality maybe a couple weeks prior to the release of FS2024, it’ll just be some time before work on it becomes the priority (especially because of the bugs that exist right now!).

I got my dad a copy of the game and it would be so nice to be able to fly with eachother in a shared cockpit. I’d really like to teach him some things about the more advanced planes or help out by splitting the duties in the cockpit

Almost since I bought the sim I’ve been doing real sim shared cockpit. Two yokes, 2 rudder pedals, etc, plugged into one pc.

It’s a lot cheaper than friends having to buy a fancy pc, and all the same add-ons. With big enough screens, it works great.

And you can break for a snack, or bathroom break, or let someone else take your seat.

Doing it over the internet just sounds lonely.

Well that would be nice but I can’t drive the next town over everyday after work. I’ve already been helping him fly by having him stream the game over steam to me while I talk to him on the phone, it isn’t that lonely
