Sharp Increase in CTD since WU8

Playing on Xbox Series X

Prior to SU8 I used to get CTD with some regularity. This seemed to be fixed, or at least to an extent, with SU8. But since WU8 I have been experiencing a big increase in the likelihood of CTD. In the past 6 flights - 4x CTD. Most seem to occur at third-party airports when either taxiing to the runway after a cold and dark start, or when landing or taxiing to the gate.

In an attempt to narrow down the cause of these crashes I have removed every third-party scenery dlc and all third-party airport dlc, which pains me as I have every UK and Eire airport. I’ve also turned off ground aircraft traffic, AI traffic and Live AI. I’ve kept third-party aircraft, as the crashes seem to occur regardless of whether I’m flying default plane, such as A320NEO or the Junkers. I’ve also kept on multiplayer and live weather. For now.

Hopefully SU9 may help here, but I’m staying away from the beta. I’m not going to hold my breath.

if you have the time and the inclination, take a look at this article from december of last year. then you will know how CTD and the 3rd party airports on xbox are doing.

scenery addons on the consoles are a gamble, i dont buy these yet.
i haev several aircraft, no isues, not seen one ctd yet.
have you tried contacting the creators.
you do need to make sure it is really that addon and nothing else.

Yes, I just went through my community directory again and found a ton of modellib.bgl files in MSFScenerbuilder sceneries I had purchased and had to fix a ton of files all with the same name as far as the VFS would have been concerned, plus a few more from other suppliers from freeware vendors.

I have to do this check periodically because soooo many developers are clueless and just use the “mycompany\modellib.bgl” and so many other files with common names it’s ridiculous. And then everyone blames MSFS for these errors and their associated CTD’s when the VFS gets confused, when the real problem is poorly constructed packages, from professional developers no less.

MSFScenerybuilders is a major offender. They do a lot of airports I like, but, man, I wish they knew what they were doing when it comes to package creation.
