Short city-to-city flights - what are your favorites/recommendations?

I have a YouTube channel with a playlist for City to City flights around the world.

I have done 15-20 flights so far, but am looking for inspiration :slight_smile:

So the challenge is to find some interesting flights for an A320, where the flight time is max 2 hours, best with 1.
It could be great looking airport surroundings, famous cities etc etc.

What would you propose?

Since I have spent a lot of time living and flying this part of the world, my ‘go to’ runs usually involve Las Vegas Nv… Some favorites are KBUR – KLAS (either direction), KLAS → KSAN

Other short hops I do are KSAN → KSFO, KBUR → KRDM

The 320 is a little on the large side for KRDM, if I’m going in there I use the CRJ700 most of the time. You can get a 320 in there, but in real world, its CRJ’s and Dash8’s mostly

Well I’m a CYEG based pilot, so many of my favorite short-haul flights in MSFS are CYEG-CYVR, CYEG-KSEA, CYEG-CYLW, CYEG-CYYJ, and CYEG-CYYF(little tight for an A32N, but perfect for the CRJ)

All these flights take you over the Rocky Mountains , and CYLW and CYYF have some interesting approaches avoiding the mountains.

Canberra (YSCB) to Sydney (YSSY)

i love doing a KSFO runway 28L then a gentle turn over the Golden Gate and Alcatraz and then a butterlanding into Oakland, really great for practise and some sightseeing

Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo (vice versa)

Galeão International Airport (SBGL) to Guarulhos International Airport (SBGR)
Santos Dumont (SBRJ) to Congonhas Airport (SBSP)

Munich → Rome
Salzburg → Venice
Friedrichshafen → Olbia
Geneve → Klagenfurt
Zurich → Munich
Ajaccio → Nice
Florence → Innsbruck

Basically anything between those airports is fun and interesting. I love flying Munich → Innsbruck with GA aircraft

Fly short, try the Netherlands. You could go Rotterdam to Amsterdam.. I’ve done Edinburgh-Amsterdam in about 90 minutes and Eindhoven-Amsterdam with Cessna Citation, about 30-40 minutes. Both are perfectly suitable for A320 I guess.. and shorter time.. EHAM has all procedures.

These are some of my favourite flights:

  • LSGG Geneva to LFMN Nice (or vice versa)
  • LIRQ Florence to LFMN Nice: Simbrief routes you via Genova, which is great as this takes you along the Italian and French riviera.
  • LSGG Geneva or LFSB Basel to LFKJ Ajaccio: Great variety of scenery, from lush green hills to high alpine mountains to the Frech Riviera across the Mediterranean sea to the beautiful island of Corsica; RNAV or visual approach Rwy 20 are particularly spectacular.
  • LEBL Barcelona (or LFBD Bordeaux) to LEBB Bilbao: I‘d recommend an approach into Bilbao from the east (RWY 30) as you descend into a valley with some spectacular mountains on your left and the sea in the distance.
  • LCLK Larnaca to QAIA Amman: From the Mediterranean to the desert, descending over the Dead Sea.
  • Island hopping in the Aegean is great as well.

Indeed that whole region is my favorite.
Just something magical about that southern coast that keeps drawing me back!:clinking_beer_mugs:

Land in LECU, Madrid on RWY27, you will final over the city, which looks amazing with photogrammetry, I would recommend a LESA-LECU.
LECO, in A Coruña, if you have the payware airport, is also incredible, here you can do a LEBB-LECO.
