Should MS just Recall FS2024 and try to finish the product without this pressure and humiliation?

Well… Its Day 3 and only 45% of people that installed it, managed to enter Flight! Acording to XBox App.

I managed only once to start a flight before ctd (on day 2), and still I got the achivement for first flight.
And here are stats from XBox app about this achivement:

Yesterday evening it was 25% so its a progress

Should MS just recall this, collect all the data and take some time fo finish the product?
As a developer, I think that with this pressure for the team to fix such a broken product, and after the pressure weeks ahead to release it, this cant work out.

I dont think 45% is convincing. My take is that many XGP players are not flight sim fans. They just gave 2024 a try but got blocked out and decided never to play this game again.

XBox app is not reporting for Xbox users only… Its a PC users for sure.
I must admit that I’m not sure if Steam usres are included. But I think that game is sending all achivements from all platforms to the same reports…

You get that when you start a flight. I received it for doing my preflight on a Caravan, which looked like this:

Needless to say, I didn’t complete a flight, let alone take off.

Exactly that. That makes this number of only 45% of people managed to just start a flight, no matter how it ended, more catastrofic.

Yes they do this…

Are your Nvidia drivers up to date? A new version was released last week that adds compatibility with FS2024.

Is your Rolling Cache set to an SSD and has at least a 100GB+ allotment? By default FS2024 had set my rolling cache to a different drive than the install drive and had only given it a few GB.

Yes, everything is updated and ok. Multiple reinstalls. High end system.
But You miss the point, after 2 days only 25%, after 3 days only 45% of people managed to start the sim. Look at the all the media. This thing is not working.

I’m in UK, Xbox Series X. Managed to get passed 97% once yesterday, ended in a crash at Customize Identity screen. Got into the menu again once again today, selected Free Flight, crashed out and then the First Flight achievement popped without ever seeing a plane or selecting an airport.

I would imagine the number of folks that are actually flying is way less than 45% if that achievement is triggered in the menu. I don’t see that for the UK that any progress in resolving anything has been made.

And ‘Yes’ it should be recalled, this was nowhere near ready either in terms of concept, development or apparently infrastructure…and MS/Asobo knew it!

It seems that (again) that the european servers have more problems then fi the north american servers. I have no idea what the amounts of users per server is, but atm it even seems my msfs2020 is slower then it has ever been and a lot of online messages. I have a feeling they are now at the point using those servers also for 2024.

At least it gives us something to laugh about. Comic relief from abject misery is always welcome

Xbox Series X. Just for fun, I decided to land on I-294 in the Chicago suburbs. Noticed a couple of interesting things:

  1. The actual highway contains flat bitmapped images of the tops of cars.
  2. And there are 3D models of cars driving around the bitmaps.
  3. The freeway runs roughly north-south (technically east-west), yet all the 3D car models in all lanes were traveling south apart from the exit lanes.
  4. The map thinks that roads don’t actually go under bridges, and I got stuck inside a bridge while trying to go under it.

Im playing just fine in Australia. So, no thanks. If you want to play 2020 for now, go ahead.

I managed to fly a plane for a short while tonight … but could not get my saitek joystick to work … this is the first time since launch I have git this far … I have a high spec PC 14th gen i9 - 4tb SsD 4080 Super - 64gb Ram and the game is glitchy and jumps at best - loading of graphics is awful … it’s not playable - am UK based .. need to give players option to download and only stream what’s needed - oh and I’m on 1gb FTTP so it’s defo MS problem -
Really disappointed to say the least

The achievements are pointless - I got mine for completing a flight yesterday - I didn’t even get to see a plane !!!

I was going to ask the same question as the OP - should Microsoft pull 2024, take time to fix things, and re-release as 2025? … but decided against it.

I think it’s too late for that. Instead, as long as users are logging in to fly, they can collect a wide range of data which helps to fix things. Those who are not happy with the current version of 2024 can go back to 2020. Assuming they do work out these issues and eventually deliver some reliability, I think they can restore some of the loyalty.

In my opinion the Microsoft Gaming execs should not have fixed the launch date, and instead just teased the new sim without a fixed date, had several rounds of beta testing, listened to feedback about the UI (esp for peripheral and controller bindings), and taken whatever time was needed to make sure cloud resources allow for predictable surge demand. They also could have staggered release by region, or by product tier. You only get one chance to make that first impression.

XGP is available for PC gamers as well.
Steam users are not included in this ratio.

The game has worked pretty perfectly for me since Wednesday morning. So, no, they should not recall it.

A week from now, when the servers aren’t being quite so hammered and they’ve fixed the infrastructure issues that are likely causing most of the remaining issues, all of you folks who’ve overreacted like this will hopefully be a little abashed at your actions and comments.

Much better bandwidth in the UK today. Thank you Jorg.

Settings: Online says I have downloaded 5.2 GB…thats good news.

I managed to start a flight at KJFK, sim downloaded the entire airport at up to 200Mbps, then zoomed into the runway.

I used the free cam to head towards Long Island at skyscraper level. As I got closer the textures became better…Task Manager showed healthy download speeds.

Eventually NY rendered in great 3D, so the cache must have filled nicely.

Repeated that at other major airports.

I’ve set my rolling cache to 64GB, hoping it will buffer a lot and reduce streaming.

The big test will be tonight at 20:00 UTC when North America will start coming online.

So No don’t recall it, keep on improving the network resources.
