Should you get MSFS on Xbox?

But you should buy it on PC?

If you are satisfied with the basic version quality or are willing and able to invest a ton in making it ā€œall it can beā€ then yes of course.

another good thing about having both pc and xbox other than buy once get twice is the fact is I can run a simupdate beta on the pc while having the X to enjoy when or if things go wrongā€¦

Then you get it on the XBOX too. If you should buy it on the PCā€¦ thenā€¦

Thereā€™s no need for conditional simming.

ā€œWell, only if you take it seriously.ā€

Sighā€¦ you fly first. Then you learn to start a plane cold and dark.

Not sure what your point is other than trying to say that you are a serious simmer and probably the best pilot the world has ever seen? Good for you!

good point, i got the sim on release on the p.c. but since it was released on the xboxs , thats where i fly. some day when conditions allow i will fully update the p.c. but having to much fun on console

Dude. I am a really good pilot. At home. On my PC.

You wouldnā€™t believe.

So good.

I learned a while ago with racing sims, the console crowd is as serious as the PC crowd. There just hasnā€™t been a console flight sim worth anything, and the MSFS XBOX Marketplace rollout has been slow.

But flying on console is generally hassle free. On PC? I find tweaking and configuring fun butā€¦ it takes a lot of time.

I fly more per hour spent on the console.

I spend more time on my PC but if you took it away, Iā€™d be just fineā€¦ and probably fly more.

And you might have heard, I am the best pilot.

Iā€™ve got both an xbox series x and a PC (3900X, RTX2080ti)

The xbox version is far inferior - Iā€™ve just taken a flight around the Gold Coast and the stuttering was outrageous to make it nearly unplayable. On top of this the sim actually froze and crashed as I came into land at Brisbane.

Given that MS control the hardware and software on the xbox, this really is inexcusable. It seems the release on the xbox has really benefitted nobody apart MS and Asoboā€™s bank balance - the xbox now has a sim which it really cannot handle, and the PC version is hamstrung because the sim also has to support the xbox.

:joy::joy::joy:So youā€™re the one whoā€™s almost as good as girly me?? Coolā€‹:sunglasses:

I agree that console is much easier to use on any game except, and thatā€™s for me personally, msfs.
Simply because it crashes on average 2x an hour.
Iā€™m trying SU8 now but unfortunately the hotas one canā€™t be used for now because it doesnā€™t start if itā€™s connected and when I connect it with the sim running it crashes as soon as I plug it in.

I did finally get the ā€œmy wayā€ achievement and somehow it suddenly marked some other achievements as completed that I did before I lost all progress, so itā€™s a good start.

Iā€™m either on the Stennis near San Francisco, 1G4 or Lukla. See you therešŸ˜‰

This.

I am nearly incapable of ignoring the performance issues I see on the PC, because I know there are eleventy billion different sliders and settings in the OS, Nvidia control panel and the sim itself.

Would reducing the shadow quality make it better? or should I change the textures from 4x4 to 6x6? or do I need to turn HAGS back on? where was that thread on the forum that I saw that was discussing performance? or what if I try the Ultra latency mode? or should I turn off lens flare?
Etc., etc., etc.

Blech. I canā€™t control myself.

On the Xbox, I just fly.

I, fortunately, am one of the ones who has been extremely conservative in my Marketplace purchases and am not experiencing the CTDs that many of you who have bought lots of scenery do.

I will say that I really want my DC-6 on my Xbox.

Really ? Things werenā€™t so complicated with Fs9 .

I do not regret my Xbox choice

As you say, Xbox switched on and flyā€¦ !!! :sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:

The graphics settings on PC are quite complex.

I spoke too soon. (sigh), Ok I set everything in HDR 4K (where its supposed to be), (all was well untilā€¦?). I have turned off everything I donā€™t feel is necessary for me to enjoy, (nothing that would affect frame rates of course), and lowered the values on somethings and left Data on and Bing Maps, (photogrammetry is OFF). I did this to try and stop any stuttering (yes Iā€™m getting stuttering again with the Xbox X version (from my DVD hard copy installed). Under 2000 feet, bad frame rates. Anything that flyā€™s faster than a cub or Cessna or Zlin etc, is horrible. Especially the F-18. Canā€™t fly close to the ground its almost unbearable the stuttering. What the heck is up with this SIM in any formā€¦?? I spent $1037 (financed to get the Xbox X console and Xbox version on DVD to, so I thought, to have a smooth flying experience. I could cry right now because this is an irritating constant regardless of what platform I use for this SIM. I have sworn so many profanities that I think Iā€™ve come up with some new ones. lol. I have lost ,as well, all the moving traffic (cars), and stationary aircraft at all the airports. This started this morning even before I turned off unnecessary stuff. What the heck do I do nowā€¦???

Yours issues are quite strange.

Clean rolling cache .

Did you install some addonā€™s ?

I do not understand why things do not get smoother will all options switched offā€¦

I fly with the F18 too at 500 knots :upside_down_face::upside_down_face::upside_down_face::upside_down_face: near 500 feet and do not have stutters or just very littleā€¦

May your Xbox gets issue. Have you tried others games ?

Tried other gamesā€¦? No, Iā€™m not a gamer. I bought the Xbox purposely to use the MSFS Xbox version I bought. Been down the PC version rabbit hole. $130 wasted. Basically I canā€™t get flying close to the ground without stuttering and it gets really bad to the point I have to fly 2000 feet up and above. I donā€™t understand this. I reset everything back to defaults in the options and assistance menus. Still the same thing. Even turning off stuff in those menuā€™s that has nothing to do with frame rates didnā€™t seem to make any difference. I have no Ai traffic, no Ai cars on the roads, no parked aircraft at the airports either. I have restarted the console to no avail. I have no addonā€™s installed other than the ones MSFS updated automatically when I installed it from DVD. I donā€™t get it. I just donā€™t get it. (sigh) ! :rage: :man shrugging:

My TV is in 4K, HDR, My Xbox is in 4K, HDR, and the SIM of course, is in HDR10, so Iā€™m at a loss as to what to do to alleviate thisā€¦? Iā€™ve recalibrated everything ending up back where everything should be. Iā€™m convinced its definitely not me or my Xbox. Itā€™s got to be the SIM software. There has to be a bug in the software or the graphics engine. There must be some kind of coding errors in the program scripting by the original developersā€¦?? Someone must have missed an optimizing opportunity someplaceā€¦??

only things i can think of is try wireless or wired connection to see if anything change and as said above try delete the rolling cache in general settings > data

Is the stuttering consistently poor FPS, or is it a single stutter every few seconds?

There is a thread ā€” Iā€™ve been trying to find it for you, but I grew tired of looking ā€” the discusses FPS issues near the ground. There are a bunch of post leading to the reality that a number of the World Updates are causing the problem ā€” specifically, the photogrammetry cities within these World Updates. The bizarre thing is the offending PG data can be from cities on the other side of the world where you not even remote near and they will affect the city youā€™re in.

Since we cannot just pluck the PG cities out the way a PC can, the only option is to remove the World Updates themselves.

I know this is not ideal, at all, but I would uninstall them and try it.

I was having HORRIBLE FPS in the Los Angeles basin and inland empire. I did this and I turned off the rolling cache and I donā€™t have the issue any longer.

There are two ā€œsafeā€ World Updates that you can leave installed ā€” USA & Nordics.

If I can find the thread I will post it here.

*nikthetrip5023: Iā€™m only using the default Xbox controller and Xbox Thrustmaster Hotas One for control.

*NixonRedgrave: I have rolling cache turned off and have deleted the cache reserves.
So what your saying is to go into content manger and manually delete the world updatesā€¦except USA & Nordicsā€¦? Hmm, not worried about deleting these world updates because there still is a plethora of places to fly in the SIM. I try to fly in my local area including Canada and Ontario only soā€¦you knowā€¦

Precisely. Itā€™s an issue confirmed for a number of people in the PC userbase.

They will show a photo of being in an airliner at KPHX, for instance, woh Dev Mode turned on, with FPS low.

Then, they uninstall the PG cities from the offending WUs and show another screenshot at the same location with restored FPS.

Be sure to reboot the sim (Xbox home, select FS, press menu, quit) after you perform the uninstalls.

Hereā€™s one of the key posts in the thread:
