SIAI/Marchetti S.205 Released

Has anyone had the chance to try this new release? It seems really nice

it’s available on simmarket as of today

approach with caution. dont expect any support past maybe one update, nor any real communication from the dev. read people’s experience with the other aircraft first before buying.

This is the SIAI I would like.

JRollon was bringing their excellent 260 over from X-Plane, but I haven’t heard anything about it in ages

Yes, agreed. The 260 (from RealAir back then) was my default with their Scout as bush alternate. Rarely flew anything else. When the new 260 launches I won’t hesitate as it is from a great developer who knows and loves the model they are working on.

I’ll take one for the team here and buy it to share my thoughts. I don’t have any of their other products so this isn’t a bitter pill for me to swallow. I have a little over 1,000 hours simming mostly in X-Plane and the love of my sim life is the Thranda Beaver. I have 10+ hours real world stick time though I’m not licensed.

Texturing inside is pretty solid, especially the stuff right in front of your face. Some weird things here and there but I’m pleased. Outside is good as well with some definite photo textures off what I assume is a real a/c. Readable placards on the landing gear, prop and serial number plaque under horizontal stab. Engine modeled under hood, but I’m not sure how to open.

Big plus for me is that the instruments are unique, not default which I appreciate. Radio stack is also unique, many units I haven’t seen before - I especially like the ADF (you have to have battery on for ADF freq selector to move). Transponder is weird, if you switch it to ALT, the numbers zero out and become locked. Rotary knobs move opposite direction with mouse wheel than typical.

Here’s where things start to go a little sideways - the prop governor/constant speed system is on crack. My experience so far is that I have to treat this as a fixed-pitch prop and leave it fully coarse to be flyable. When you are at idle on the ground, ie full closed throttle, you have almost the full range of RPM at your disposal with the RPM knob. If you are set to full fine at idle, you’re gonna be sitting there at 2,000 RPM - the only way to idle normally is fully coarse. In flight, going from full fine to fully coarse is a <500 RPM difference, so the only way this is flyable is to set the prop to coarse and not to touch it again. It flies somewhat normally that way, albeit higher RPM cruising than you’d expect.

The flight model is pretty basic - this thing flies on rails. Controls are very sensitive but you’re probably used to that now. It will eventually stall but you get down pretty low before mushing and dropping the nose. Throttle inputs are also instant. Autopilot is basic but works.

Sounds are decent. I don’t think they’re default but are a bit muted for my taste. Quieter outside than inside. Storm window opening doesn’t change volume and doors do not open.

The prop governor issue makes this a bit of a silly prospect but if they get that sorted I have to say I don’t hate it. The fact that it’s about the same price as the 247D throws the value prospect out the window but if the main issue gets sorted and you catch it on sale 6 months from now I don’t think you’ll hate yourself.

PS - If I was ambiguous about the flight model, take this: you can taxi at 10kts and steer with rudder trim.

Yep, with you on that one, and i’ll go further: the relationship between RPM, pitch is a nonsense. Equally a nonsense is the forward inertia modelling - that pitch vs elevator modelling is even worse than a GTA5 gameplay model! Fingers crossed then for a hotfix or improvement mod…

First Nemeth product, many flightsimming hours plus PPL 25 years.

Did quick video

Sorry i forgot turn off fuel pump

I think there are better planes for this price.

Wow dude, the landing gear sound scared the ■■■■ outta me. I know some planes are quieter than others but ■■■■…barely seems it’s running no matter what view. It’s a shame because it seems like a nice and basic hobby plane.

Sorry for that  i’m using only 30% volume on engine sound.

flew the wings off that one in FSX - along with their Scout

looks and seems to fly much like a Piper 140 except for the retractable gear…
very nice short video -

Any details on what the update is for?

After a long time that I did not use the Siai Marchetti S.205, I wanted to make a flight with him and I noticed that the artificial horizon does not work.
Is it a well -known bug?

Any updates to this aircraft ? to get it into MSFS2024.
Seems to work if start airborne, but landing gear probs if start on the ground.

It is now for fs2024 available but gns doesn’t work when you start from dark and cold and as well landing gear lamps do not work. Devs please provide a fix to that. As well in career mode passengers walk on the roof of the plane

MS doesn’t allow devs to provide support here, and not every dev reads this forum. You need to report the issue to the plane’s publisher via website/email/Discord/etc.

I understand there is a discount for the 2024 native version but will there be a 2024 compatible version at no charge from the site purchased from? My 2020 version seems to work for the most part but the front landing gear doesnt retract so I dont fly it.
