When I go to close out the platform the sim does not close out until I go into Task Manager and exit and End Task.
I have let it go for up to 30 minutes and still can hear the sound of the engine from the last aircraft I flew.

Same issue here, everytime I click “Quit to Desktop” the FS2024 does nothing, the screen remains freezed for hours as showed in the attached picture. There is no way to stop FS2024 unless I go to Task Manager and kill FS2024 process.

Same issue here
This was also happening on Tech alpha, mostly ending with an error msg.
After release sadly sometimes even if it showed as game was fully closed and there was no .exe file at task manager > process list, game music was continuing to play at the background until full windows restart… And mostly was taking some extra time for game to fully close itself.
USER Support cannot help with a core BUG in how the program interacts with the Windows OS. LOL Both of which are made by Microsoft.
Confirm this happens almost half the time you attempt to exit the sim. You press return to desktop and the screen does exactly that, but the process is still running in the background, as is the window, and alt-tabbing to it to try to close it again does nothing.
Task manager is the only way to kill it, therefore using task manager a lot these days.

Same here. I find CTD a more efficient way to leave the game.
