Sim Update 5 performance before and after

Big improvement for me…

5800x | TUF3080 | 32GB RAM 3600 | M.2 Drive | 1440p

A32nx, LHR taxiing from gate, live traffic/weather on.

SU4: (settings on High-Ultra)
Inside cockpit - 25-28fps
External view - 33-36fps
NB. Few micro stutters

SU5: (settings on Ultra)
Inside cockpit - 58-62fps
External view - 60-65fps
NB. Game has no stutters. No CTD yet.

Very happy!

Sorry it’s usercfg.opt

Regression to Same.

3900x | EVGA1080Ti | 32GB RAM 3600 | M.2 Drive | 1440p

C208, Pistol Creek Idaho , live traffic/weather on.

SU4: (settings on High-Ultra)
Inside cockpit - 45 - 50ps
External view - 40 - 45fps
NB. Few micro stutters

SU5: (exact same settings)
Inside cockpit - 30 - 35
External view - 40 - 45fps (no change)
NB. MANY CTD’s, Stuttering remains the same.
CPU Loading, no change, <15% total utilization, <50% single core
GPU usage REGRESSED. Caps at 70% now, where before would hit 100%.

Then for fun I set it to 2 Core 2 Thread using Process Lasso, ZERO change

@ High End, I’m, getting closer to what I used to. Bugs me the GPU isn’t being used as much anymore. I don’t run ANY custom settings in the Nvidia control panel or with the settings in the EXE like some do. 40fps is just fine for me, THIS, however, is NOT…

So disappointing, just finished upgrading card to rtx 3090. 64 ram. i7Had a great sim. Thought I had the ultimate sim , for a day.
Then the update. Worse now than my 5 year old lap top.

I figured that out from another post, but thanks for responding so fast. It makes a world of difference. I’ve not upgraded yet because of so very many problems being reported, but I’m lining up the resources for fixes to try if I have trouble. I now have this important one.

Happy to help. One thing I may have forgotten to say – you have to make this file read only otherwise it will revert back to previous settings each time.

HOWEVER, whenever there’s a sim update or patch, I’d recommend unselecting the “readable only” attribute so that you don’t have any install problems.

Thank you, I see many others have the same issue.

Using MSFS can cause a CTD. While I have had CTDs on MSFS I have never had one from Process Lasso. But each PC is different otherwise no-one would be getting CTDs. As always use new processes with caution and be aware that if anything goes wrong it is your own fault. Lastly do your research and check the various forums for problems, before starting anything new.

Sorry I am not sure if there were any changes to the FPS counter. I rarely use it unless I need to trouble shoot a performance issue. The CPU has never been worked as hard as my video card either before or after the update. My CPU is only put to work when changing a major setting like enabling/disabling photogrammerty during a flight. Otherwise its usage stays relatively low. In the Windows task manager graphs I did notice that the load is more evenly spread out across all 6 cores of my CPU after SU5, when this definately wasn’t the case before the update.

Flew the same plane. 75-85 at Edwards. 95-110 on approach to LAX at 8000, down to 45 fps on taxiway.

I have just followed the advice from TenPatrol regarding my CTD’s and turned off multiplayer and AI traffic etc and also locked FPS at 30 fps. Have just done 4 back to back flights in the C152 @ 1000ft (KSEA to Seattle CBD to KSEA, EGHI to Southampton CBD to EGHI, EGLC to London CBD to EGLC and finally KJFK to NYC CBD to KJFK) all without any CTD’s and very smooth graphics. Thanks Ten Patrol! Looks as though Asobo have a few bugs to sort out with the AI side of things then I will be ecstatic !

cpu bottleneck is not all about cores load, it io, what depended of ipc, if something work too slow ring/uncore or ram, it will block gpu works as it can, may be hotfix today will help, or may be you have to slow down settings or upgrade pc

Hi, thanks for your reply. I was referring to what is shown in your screenshot with the FPS counter from the Developer Mode - GPU reads nil and you have Limited by Main Thread PC - I have the same and I am sure this was not there before SU5 - perhaps its a bug in how the particular counter is functioning now.

Please report when you have installed the hotfix if you’re seeing any improvement

SIGNIFICANT performance up-lift post-patch. Removing G1000 NXi EA which “snuck” into the update helped provided a little boost as well.

GPU is fully utilized now. Stuttering, however with TrackIR is still quite bad. I had NONE with SU4, and its very frequent with SU5 Locking frame rates to 30 using vsync helps reduce the effect quite a bit.

Still mouse scroll wheel wont turn the fuel selector in the B58.

Working without any problems.

Select default mouse profile > apply and save

Wow. Jaw dropped on the improvements. I was able to get a fairly constant 42 fps (I’ve locked at 50% monitor rate) in SU4 but with SU5 I can get 85fps.

Helo everyone,
Sofar everything is awesome! The performance is amazing. I can run everything on ultra.
Ryzen 1700 GTX 1080 Aorus, 32GB Ripjaws
Before the update my ram usage was always above 20gb now is only 8-9…so amazing!
There are no stuttering anymore. The big cities are also good. I tried Guernsey-London today.
I am currently flying with the 747. I din’t noticed “ugly cloud” as others mentioned.

My only problem is why the toolbar isn’t dissapear fully? Before the update this was cool, you needed to wait only 5-6 second and that white line completley went out…
Now its always on screen and is *** anoying if you want to take a screenshot.

Sorry for my bad english I am not a native speaker.
