This is very promising, thank you for the image.
This is another place. Not that good. But it feels like meteoblue is more prioritized now. That i think is good though. Because that is the weather meteoblue predicts. And the clouds look much better i would say.
Maybe itās placebo. Can they make it much better only to make changes on the server?
OVC004. I suspect that cloud layer is being rendered beneath the ground due to the cloud height bug. I think they will fix that so not too worried, but glad to see the higher level layers seemingly working-ish!
Yes, I think so too. The higher level clouds look real good, donāt you think?
Back during the beginning of the year when they fixed the bug where the weather data was being loaded 12 hours in advance, that was a fix they made only server side. So I think itās possible
But why canāt they change the overcast layer to be at the right height then? Maybe that is on our side? LOL very strange. Maybe they has not found that issue yet.
Now it looks like this. same place

In this example the clouds have more likely moved in from the south-east and not just slowly appeared over the field.
We have to know that there is a METAR every 100 or so kilometres, every half an hour, and consisting of only a few weather variables. Weather models like the ones used by Meteoblue have data for all weather variables (and many more can be deduced from these) every few kilometres and on the minute time scale, linked together by a system of differential equations providing true physical character of the weather simulation.
Interpolating a METAR cannot match this.
Another thing Iāve noticed is that even if it shows the most recent metar in the metar call up box, it doesnāt necessarily depict that in the sim, thereās like a time lag it seems.
Overcast is a weird one, as Iāve seen this morning thereās locations where it depicts such a beautiful overcast layer, and other ones where it really struggled to show overcast.
I can confirm. Every time the clouds hang so low (below 1000), they are stuck in the ground at EDDL.
Yes, it feels like iām above the clouds while on ground ![]()
Sorry been out of the house since iāve posted my message so havenāt been able to do that. Will try to do it later today
Yes overcast is injected at wrong height. That is the problem for that thing. Looks real messy. OVC 009
It would be interesting to see if they can fix the cloud height issue, just how much that would solve. I wonder for example how much cloud is being rendered in areas we cannot see
I can report that the Live weather seemed to be working very well for me this morning. Temps were right, winds were right, cloud height and type were so-so, but definitely good and nothing out of the ordinary. Overcast was generated, clouds werenĀ“t growing from the ground, no fog kept popping in an out, upper layer of clouds was there⦠I mean, feast of the good olĀ“ live weatherš
However, I keep experiencing some sort of a ācrashā of the live weather always one hour into the flight (see the screenshot) - at some point only clear skies is generated. Winds, temps and pressure are injected, clouds arenĀ“t. And one can see a visible line where the cloud injection just stoppedā¦
Can you, guys, report that the live weather keeps injecting clouds during longer flights?
Affirm! I checked a few locations in the morning, and it was plausible everywhere, even overcast clouds were rendered.
I took a flight from LFMN to LIEO (not long enough to check your issue, sorry!) as there was CAVOK reported at LFMN and SCT at LIEO, and the weather depiction was plausible throughout, with the exception of cloud height on approach, the bases were 1000 ft too low and I saw the occasional cloud seemingly hugging the ground.
And the wind on approach is atrocious: Thereās no movement in the atmosphere, it is a totally linear wind as reported in the METAR. Itās like driving a bus to the threshold.
Clouds are still on ground level with possible layers going on under ground so the weather representation canāt be right! I tried 4 airports this morning all with the same problems, very similar skies and very low cloudsā¦
Yeah currently crossing Germany and most of it has lazy clouds lounging on the ground, little chance to fly VFR, yet people ask why anyone would want or even need a hotfix. TBH, that and the silence is quite disheartening and Iām losing my patience. They announced a nice present I was very much looking forward to but that present is not only half broken (I could live with that forever), itās taking away stuff. Confidence is making way for plain disappointment.
Flying from Düsseldorf to Gothenburg. Both airports with clouds on the ground. ![]()
On the way, however, the weather sometimes looked quite good and authentic:
Thatās odd, as others seem to expierience similar issues. There still must be something wrong, maybe server issues. Hereās what I saw earlier this day, and that was mostly plausible. The only inconsistence I encountered was at LGRX, where low visibility and rain were depicted, but not the TS reported in the METAR.
LOXT, no METAR, but TAF: 260815Z 2609/2618 26008KT 4000 -RA SCT007 OVC014 BECMG 2609/2611 -SN TEMPO 2610/2617 2000 SN OVC006 PROB30 TEMPO 2610/2615 0800 VV002

These flat clouds on the ground on your 2nd picture are the ones that really bother me. They are present in almost every situation.
