I’ve been having problems with the sim since last night. It won’t stop crashing, doesn’t matter if I’m on safe mode or normal mode. I did uninstalled and reinstalled the sim. I deleted all the mods and addons. I did check the few applications that I have and updated them. But GOD it still crashing!!! Sorry but I’m very frustrated.
Can someone help me?
Does MSFS 2020 has customer service that can help?
Welcome to flight simming these things happen. Usually it’s because of an update to the game or a system. Best thing you can do if you find it happening again is look at what’s just been updated. 99% of the time this will be the root cause. (In my experience anyway)
I would start by going to the Windows Start button, then type « events ». This will bring up the event viewer. Then on the left I think it is the application events. In there you should find the log that says why the sim crashed.
Can you put the output here ?
Last night re installation was done and still crashing. I can’t event start a flight. I even did steps to have the sim back to it “vanilla state” or as I believe is like recently purchased.
Deleted 3rd party content from the content manager and just left Asobo stuff. One thing I noticed by doing this is that I can delete this content but then it does aparear again as available updates.
How I can permanently delete these addons as they are not in the community folder but is read in the official?
I want to thank you guys @ATPL2006@OneWez13 for your recommendations and the time you are taking to help me.
I’m not a PC expert and your help is highly appreciated.
I will look for “events” like recommended by @ATPL2006 And post it here.
Roll back the video driver. I use 472.12. I thought I had the latest driver working, but after a test flight I have ctd’s. I have tried every driver since 472.12 and all cause problems. I have a GTX1080 TI.
I had crashes non stop, until I turned off the Text To Speech “Azure”.
General Options - Sound - ATC Text-To-Speech Settings - “OFFLINE”
That fixed the most crashes for me.
Also make sure to delete your manual and rolling cache and reset them. Often conflicts in the map data cause CTDs. Thats the easiest thing to rule out first.
EDIT: Dont use the manual cache at all, if you can. Heard people saying it always causes them crashes.
I see a few recommendations to roll back the Nvidia drivers. I did update the driver to 511 six days ago and for 3 days I had no issues. After 3 days is when I started to have issues.
Same card, same latest driver version and I’ve been experiencing crashes as well. Way more than I’ve ever had. I was convinced though that something in my community folder was the culprit. I may try the rollback to the driver you mentioned.
I’ve also been having a HORRIBLE time with CTD’s in the past 24 hours. I was on the Beta, so I rolled back off of that to the current version. I did update the NVIDIA driver to the most recent one, but even after installing 472.12 I am getting CTD’s. They are so severe that it crashes before even loading the screen where it gives you the choice to select Safe mode.
Im at a loss here. I just did a full reinstall this morning, and its still happening.
Been running MSFS since day 1. I have never seen issues this bad trying to just start the sim!
UPDATE: not sure how this stopped the crashing…but I ended up killing (temporarily) MSI Afterburner (zero overclocking going on), RivaTuner, and Intelligent Standby List Cleaner (ISLC). After that, I rebooted, re-installed the newest Nvidia driver (511.79), and its been smooth sailing ever since. MSI, RivaTuner, and ISLC are all running as they were before…but I’ve had zero CTD’s, and Ive been flying constantly now for about 4-5 hours. Go figure…
