I’m probably going to be buying a Buttkicker Gamer Plus later this week and i’m looking into the software that I’ll need. HaptiConnect is getting bad reviews so I wanted to look into getting the SimHaptic software.
Does anyone know if SimHaptic will read all the simulator events if plugged into the PC via USB as opposed to using a sound card? I’m concerned that if you get to pick effects within SimHaptic then it’s not necessarily reading the events. I’m just trying to work out what to get.
Does anyone run SimHaptic with a Buttkicker Gamer Plus (or Pro) via USB and can provide an opinion of the software.
Is the HaptiConnect really that bad? Many of the recent comments about it indicate it’s useless. What do you think of this SimHaptic software?
I use Simhaptic with a buttkicker, the program is very flexibel and let decide how to use it and with your preferred strenght. In combination with Fsrealistic your immersion goes to a next level. You can try simhaptic free for 7 days. After two days I decided to buy the program. Every flight simmer has other needs, but what happens is that they think that their setup is the best and everything else sucks
I am using Hapticonnect and it’s gotten better lately. It also allows to set profiles so you can differentiate between, say, GA, Jet and Airliner. I would love if they had pre-sets and the ability to export/import/share but that might come. The only issue I see is that it crashes rather often when using in VR. It doesn’t seem to like sounds cards come and go. That happens when my Reverb G2 goes into standby and back.
@saschpe All you want is now possible, there are presets, share’s in the cloud even for helicopters. At the moment it has about the same interface as Fsrealistic… And there are many effects added
Are you talking about hapticonnect or simhaptic??? My understanding is the Buttkicker Gamer Plus doesn’t need a separate sound card and you can use USB. I just received an email from Rkapps about Simhaptic and they advise I’d need a USB Sound card adapter to use USB which sounds like it only uses the audio rather than digital. It sounds like I’d probably have to use hapticonnect to get the most out of it.
HaptiConnect from Buttkicker. The buttkicker will work without a dedicated sound card. You can use the audio splitter and Hapticonnect and it will work great. But if you want to use the Hapticonnect game connect feature, which enables you to tweak settings for things like rpm changes and touchdown effect, then you need a second sound card.
This is explained in the Hapticonnect manual but I didn’t realize it until after I bought the Hapticonnect standard edition which has the game connect features for MSFS.
I believe the Gamer 2 needed a second sound card but from what I can gather from YouTube videos you just need to use the USB cable for it to use telemetry instead of audio.
It is my understanding that the Plus and Pro models - while having a USB connector - do not act as sound cards by themselves.
If that is indeed so, the best way to add a second sound card to your PC is by using a 10$ USB sound card and connect the BK audio cables to it.
This is how my BK Gamer 2 works, and it works flawlessly. I use Sim Shaker + Sound Module, and I have to tell that program what sound card it should use for input. I believe SimHaptic works the same…
I have 3 set up with SimHaptic ( best software out there. ) Having a few usb sound cards works best especially when you want to control where the effect will be. SimHaptic will respond to simulator events and then by also adding FS realistic will make the sounds go with the buttkikers effects.
Here is an example of an external sound card. You just plug the audio jack of the BK into it and this allows you to then use the full effect of the Hapticonnect software. https://www.walmart.com/ip/5FQTAD1RDUTL
And I don’t know if this is redundant but you don’t have to use the Hapticonnect software to use a BK. The software just opens up a higher experience for you by customizing the inputs into the transducer.
