SIMSTRUMENTATION - Free Air Manager Instruments for MSFS

I feel stupid again. A reboot fixed it. Thanks!!!

The latest beta is not 3.7 so you should grab the latest beta plugin also.

So I’ve tried every setting I can think of in both MSFS and AM and I can’t get the popout window to remain within the bezel on the G1000 NXi. As soon as I touch any of the functions on the G1000 bezel the popout window falls behind the Garmin display and I have to use the mouse and click on the main display in the sim to get it to come back on top of the bezel. I’m sure it’s just a setting but I can’t figure it out.

You need a transparent background for you panel with your AM panel set to “always on top”. That way you can keep AM on top, but see your G1000 screen through the cutout for the screen in the bezel.

Ahh, the second I read those four words I realized my mistake. I did see that setting earlier and even tried it to see what effect it had but not while I had a window popped out. I feel foolish. But this sim does that to me often.

Thank you again Crunch (to the rescue!).

Make sure you understand what those panel settings actually do.

The new GMA1347 Audio Panel v2.0 is now available from our GitHub. It features newly developed, higher resolution graphics by @CaptainTick433 and some updates using new variables in SU6. There are still a lot of INOP buttons, but that’s a limitation of the sim itself. All the important functionsß actually work.

So after several hours of trying to get these to work I’m still struggling to get the popouts to properly frame inside the transparency. I’ve ticked the “click through” in the settings and it seems to properly indicate but as soon as I click “show” then the “click through” goes gray and I can’t move the popout once I release it inside the transparency. I do have the Graphics API setting on Auto and I’ve tried to force DX-11 but the result is the same either way.

Also the FPS hit is dramatic. I know the first popout is going to cut my FPS in half which it does. From a strong 60’s down to low 30’s but the second popout is a killer taking me down to low 20’s. Almost unplayable. Does anybody know if this is being considered for a fix from MSAsobo?

Make sure you don’t have v-synch enabled in MSFS or a frame rate limiter in your GPU’s control panel. That will murder your frame rate with popouts.

Ah, I do have FPS limited at 80 in Nvidia CP (only due to the runaway FPS during loading). I’ll remove and try again.

Thanks as always Crunch!

As for popout window placement, it can be a real pain to get lined up. I strongly recommend using FancyZones if you haven’t got it already. Once get the windows placed, trace your zone around them, and you’ll never have to resize like that again. You’ll just have to shift+drag into your created zone and you’ll be good to go.

That makes no difference.

We’ve been complaining about this for over a year and they haven’t so much as even acknowledged it as being an issue. It’s been asked in chat multiple times in every Q&A and ignored there as well.

So I’m still having a couple of issues.

  1. Even with V-sync off and no FPS limiter in Nvidia CP I’m still seeing FPS of exactly 20 if, and I say if, my mouse is clicked anywhere on the monitor in which the sim is running. As long as I’m focused OFF of that monitor my fps is fairly stable in mid to upper 30’s and even into the 40’s. Now of course it’s easy enough to just click off that monitor but it is a very peculiar result.

  2. I’m unable to get the click thru to work at all with the AM panels. But I did manage a pretty good workflow to get the panels sized and in place regardless but yeah, it is a pain. I will definitely try fancy zones.

Odd. I only get about 45 fps. I drop to 30 when I pop out instruments and stay there. No other drop. Well, busy environments can definitely drop me to mid 20s on the ground, but that’s kind of my baseline of 30. I can have 1 popout or 10 and it has no extra impact on my frame rate. I’m always at that baseline of 30. Not sure what to tell you about that or what to suggest.

I really wish Asobo would fix this issue.

Crunch, I tried FancyZones, didn’t like it. Tried MSFS Popout manager by Roastgnu, much better. I found it much easier to size and position the panel. Once I got your 1000 bezel aligned with it in AM it’s all automatic.

I’ve been meaning to give that one a try. I may have to see how well it works for me.

What part of the process from the video that I linked does not work? If we can establish which bit we can focus on that.

As with most things it’s easy once you know how.

As I said in my post above (post 67). The click-through does not work. As soon as I “show” the panel that Click Through and the associated tick mark go gray. The Lock Panel and Stay on Top stay lit but Click Through does not. And most importantly I can’t click through the transparency. As soon as I let go the popout panel it is immovable until I hide the panel (bezel) again.

In you video you talk about this at the 31:45 mark.

Ok. The first point to note is the Click through tick can only be changed when the panel is not running. You will notice it becomes selectable whenever the panel is not running. So that part is perfectly normal.
The second point is a bit weird. If click through is ticked and Directx is being used then it should just work as I show. I guess another thing to try would be your graphics driver. I can’t think of much else.

DirectX is working as it should. Here’s a screenshot of DX diagnostics.

I see that a panel for the Arrow is listed, but the only thing there is a fuel selector? Any idea where I can get the rest of the panel?
