Unfortunately, this still doesn’t work for everyone.
I’m convinced myself that’s it’s not actually the flightsim exe file that’s the problem. To me it’s the gaming service that’s the issue.
Yeah, I believe it is also related to that.
Same here. Worked fine untill 2 days ago and suddenly it stopped working.
I was alrerady on the latest version. When the sim launches, there is a black screen for 1 or 2 sec and then nothing. Been troubleshooting yesterday all day long. I was on Win V2004, rolled back some updates. Finally decided to start with a fresh copy of Windows. So now on Win 10 Pro V20H2 B19042.610. Logged in with my MS account, Gamertag okay. Still the same. The process is killed at launch time. The event viewer is not very helpfull, as I am not a programmer. The faulty module name ‘ntdll.dll’ keeps popping up with every application error event. The strange thing is that between the last time the sim launched successfully and it stopped working, nothing changed (exept maybe some installs of KB’s). Very frustating
Yes but solved
Because your PC is protected by malwarebytes not windows defender.
Blockquote NOTE: Windows Defender cannot be enabled when another anti-virus is
installed, e.g. Trend Micro Antivirus
Try what I posted a few posts up.I was just talking to a friend who had already tried everything on here and he now tried what I found to work and he has no issues at all now launching the sim.
Unistall malwarebytes via malwarebytes support tool and restart system
After restart turn on winows defender and real-time protection.

Update system.
Open ms store and update ganming services and xbox app
restart system and run game
Hi EggsBoxJuan
I was just going to post that I suspect the gaming service as well. It keeps popping up in Hageltechs DUMeter. When you wait long enough finally there pops up a message that the titel is not available in the store. Reading your suggestion now and will report back
Thanks a lot for your help, It worked for me
You’re welcome.
If that works for you which I have a feeling it will can you check the loading times and sim overall smoothness, to me it seems to not only load faster but also run smoother. Of course that might just be my imagination playing tricks.
Hi TenPatrol,
thanks for the golden tip. Works for me. Back in bussiness -:).Sim fires up again. I will be flying again in some hours, after I redownloaded everything again. Cheers
Hi EggsBoxJuan,
I could not get access to that folder, which is fine for me as this is probably part of the store system. I do not like tampering with privilages.
The solution TenPatrol has posted , works for me.
Anyways, thanks for your time
I tried all the possible fixes mentioned here and nothing works.
I had to reinstall OS since I was getting BSOD from a “great” update microsoft published… When I renstalled the system, i set updates to be delayed for 180 days (when i started getting trouble with the sim i dissabled this and updated to latest OS). Then tried instaling MSFS2020, it download a few mb of data and when i can click play in xbox app, or right click run as admin on the shortcut, I get a process that runs for around 20sec, then a black screen with white borders for 2 and then it dissapers. After trying the thing with malwarebytes I just dont get the blackscreen anymore but thats it.
And yeah, tried dissabling virus prot, defender, adding exclusions, checking fire wall, updated OS and everything in store and so on.
These fixes seem to work for a few launches then you’re back to where you started. I thought I’d cracked it earlier as the sim was launching every time, went for lunch. came back powered the PC on and no way will the sim launch.
Yep, that’s identical to what I’m seeing.
Same here…20 sec, then black screen with white borders and back to desktop. I’ve tried all the tips and tricks already.
nothing works for me since yesterday
BTW one more thing that I noticed, when checking for OS update, sometimes there is a windows defender security update, KB some number ending with 602, its downloaded, and then that dissapears, and with me checking last 2 days I think i saw it couple of times. So it could be that it doesnt get installed or something and that could be the problem. Checking for updates again will say that the OS is up to date.
I just unplugged my network cable, started FlightSim - and it still crashes
