Simulator doesn't start anymore at all

I think so to, I am using the ESET Antivirus & I disabled all parts of the Microsoft Defender AV. I talked to an ESET Agent who took control of my computer and whitelisted all of microsoft’s gaming services, communication services, and the sim suddenly launched. Turns out he was also a Simmer, haha.

Hi @BoricBurrito994,

all of these looks strange. You can have a look whether the timestamp of some of these event match with the game start.

Therefore I would repeat my question  :

  • which kind of virus protection you have installed ?
It looks like you have same issue as @taterman814 with its ESET.

Please add the game to the exclusion list for runtime checks.

For a test you can temporary disable the virus runtime protection. How this works, depends on your installed AV product.

Of course it might be that we seen different issues…

so far I know, this happens also if somewhat is wrong with this xbox-application ( or users account ).
Have you installed it ? Does this app works fine ? So far I remember me, some users re-installed this app.

Thanks again. I have since tried a few things. I deleted everything and then re-installed FS to a different drive (F drive). This seems (so far) to remove the launch issues that I have been having however I have only tested for a couple of days. However it has now done 2 CTD with the following errors showing in event viewer. I have disabled by AV (AVG) fully for now to test.

Do you know what these would mean?

these are now in-flight issues, or ? Then we come bit off-topic, there are threads related to that

If so, then you are possible affected from this issues around the network related game settings, like AI traffic ( sett off ), Text2Speach (set WindowsOffline ) , GenericModels ( set off ):
Also check virtual memory if you have less than 32Gig RAM installed.

The issues around the other errors…
not sure at the moment. Seems again issue coming from Windows and not sure whether this have an impact. But “Microsoft.GamingApp” sounds… hmmm

Back to sim not starting again today : ( multiple times

I seem to have loads of warnings of the same warning “Microsoft Gaming App” (see below). I googled it and seems there is something about about permissions which I have changed in Component Services Admin Tool and it seems to have fixed the non starting issue…for now. Don’t know if it’s random or not so will update forum. In case anyone is having the same issue, the discussion is below:

Have not played for a good while, but my game wont start either. It goes to the black screen for a few seconds, and then jump out to desktop again.

i mean, looking at all these posts, wtf is going on??

where is the windows event viewer log and some infos what you tried, system, etc… ?

After 2 weeks of TS I have finally managed to pass that black screen.
Exception code 0xc0000005
Faulting module: ucrtbase.dll
This time the trick was to stop Windows Audio service before launching simulator.
As soon as Xbox screen appear restart Windows Audio service and bam! everything works fine.
Outrageous!

Wow, same issue here. Thanks for this. I have a PCIe Sound Card installed (Sound Blaster AE-9), dont know if that has anything to do with this, but this issue just came out of nowhere.

I’m glad it helped in your case.
The error has been reported to ASOBO

I reported it as well. the more the better

Hello
I replaced my Motherboard today and made sure Windows is re-activated, FS2020 would not load anymore. Read through some of the threads non of the tips worked, uninstalled and re-installed multiple times no help, one time i got a message saying I do not have a license to run this program. MS store shows I have digital ownership but still i launch the game and nothing happens. Any ideas?

what exactly you have done ? A fresh, clean windows installtion from scratch ?

After reading a lot best advise was to do a fresh Windows install but I have lots of work apps on my system and did not want to go through all that pain. Basically i uninstalled FS2020, installed all the new MB drivers that came on CD with the new MB (including Chipset drivers etc) shut down COMPLETELY (not reboot) waited 10 minutes, upon re start i was able to install FS2020. I have now also created a USB Windows boot stick in case i need to a fresh windows install at some point. But so far it is working again. I do not know what exactly fixed it honestly.

hmmm… let us assume all drivers are fine. But you run into the licence issue.

Have you un-installed MSFS fully, as per FAQ ?
https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016107019

Otherwise you have to describe bit more what exactly happens if you start the app…
what mean

?

Hi @PeterAyache,
I have this too. What I have done is installed a new SSD and it’s a dual boot. One for Gaming other for Home/Work. That way I can also optimize the gaming boot.
