My CH Yoke was first used with FS9, then FSX…

A Dash 7 operating handbook and data documents is also available and goes into some useful detail.

Thanks that was good ty

Folks, lets keep this on the topic of the Dash-7.
Please use the correct section to discuss your hardware.

is there a pilots discord server or a forum for bug fixes for the dash 7? the left landing light appears to turn on a light inside the cabin thats been driving me nuts.

Contact the developer, they’re pretty responsive. I contacted them via Facebook.

The question was about condition levers, not power levers.

On the Dash 7 they’re called Propeller/Condition Levers. They control propeller rpm and fuel condition.

From the Dash 7 Maintenance Manual: “The propeller/condition control lever system is used for engine speed setting in conjunction with the propeller governor and provides fuel condition control and fuel manual shutoff in conjunction with the Fuel Control Unit.”

Well, yes, but you said Power Levers. And the question was about Propeller/Condition Levers. In my book Power Levers are different levers.

I said power levels. A bit ambiguous, I should have used different terminology.

It’s impossible to take off with flaps 45 because the flaps automatically retract to 25deg above ~50% torque.

@sanmusa : Also in most aircraft the large flap deflections are only marginally increasing lift, but greatly increasing drag. So setting more than 50% of the available flap deflection will only increase the takeoff roll, and not get the airplane airborne any earlier.
So much so that in some bush flying applications, the takeoff run is started with clean wings and then flaps are deployed just as the ac reaches the “calculated” takeoff speed.

On the Dash7 the drag increase is even higher, because lift does increase a lot as well when going from 25 to 45.
Up to 25deg the flaps are normal single slot flaps and above that they are becoming high lift double slottled flaps.

That’s why the flaps automatically retract with power application.
It’s the only plane I know which has this feature.

Thanks. I work on them, don’t fly them in real life, and our own pilots rarely use flaps at 45. We do functions check of the system with the aircraft on jacks, but I didn’t know the flaps at 45 weren’t used for take offs. That makes total sense.

I’ve had no problems so far I’m not doing an around the world trip with it but instead I’m exploring the Arctic with it because that is a section of airports I never visited yet

For any three engine ferry you have to obtain a ferry permit which specifies the conditions for the flight. I flew the -7 for about a year in Alaska and quite a bunch of adventures. Also did the FS9 flight dynamics for Milton Shupe’s version of this airplane. Going straight in to Valdez we dropped over the mountains on a 7 deg glide slope. It would do may amazing things, just flying high and fast weren’t part of the program

Hi,
That was the reason for my question. I was under the impression that you could not just return to a more convenient location on three engines.
But I have never flown under commercial rules and nothing with more than two engines, if we are not counting a little bit of right seat time in a JU52/3m. So if one of the engines on the Seneca V’s I flew most often, was not working we simply did not go. That was sort of an easy decision
Though not as easy, as if the IO540-K5 in the Saratoga decided to have a bad day. She almost never did though.

With exception of the Connies, Milton’s DHC7 was my favorite 4 engine aircraft in the older sims.
So thanks for a great FDM

Anyone else having issues with the landing gear? In my case the gear refuses to downlock, which I suspect is connected with the flight idle gate not opening upon touchdown, making it practically unflyable into shorter fields. (This was using the PMS 750 version)

I’m having a lot of issues landing, it will just float all the way down the runway i cant go any slower as ive already been at idle for the past mile i cant stall it out as it just climbs away … full flaps, condition levers full and throttle idle
