You can stay in HDG mode but arm the Approach before you intercept the LOC. As long as you are below the GS it should capture. I just did my first ILS in it and it worked great.
a question for the specialists
on the “Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant”, “Vacuum” is permanently lit. This is only the case with the Kodiak.
Am I doing something wrong when cold-starting the Kodiak, or is it the same for you?
Thanks for answers
Maybe try better bravo lights
I get the same with the Bravo; “vacuum” stays lit. I notice that on the TBM 930, this goes away when I set the bleed setting to auto (no idea if that’s … right …) but IIUC the Kodiak is unpressurized so there’s no equivalent setting here.
Thank you for your answer, that’s what I wanted to know.
It’s also the case with me that the light on the “Bravo” goes out with all other aircraft.
It could be that I’m doing something wrong with the cold start and that’s why the light stays on with “Vaccum”.
But if that’s also the case with your Kodiak, then so be it.
Agreed - and exactly why I’ve purchased this beautiful little Kodiak via Orbx Central, even though I know it’s cheaper on the developer’s site. The convenience of an automatic install and automatic updates is, to me, worth it.
Same for me
is there any step by step video tutorial out there available for the Kodiak? i am not finding much of information beside the pay course from missionary pilot but its too expensive..
Hi,
The top beacon light is very dim, actual not visible at all during daytime, is there a way to make it more brighter ?
The Kodiak works fine with the NXi, and will probably continue to work with it, but it’s also still technically a mod under development, so SWS is just saying that new versions might change something that breaks some functionality. Since SWS isn’t the one developing the NXi, they’re not really responsible for that.
The performance issue is related to how the standby attitude indicator is coded. Luckily you’re able to disable it, and it sounds like SWS may redo it with some different programming down the road?
Check @G280driver 's posts. Checklist, tips, etc. Everything you need to start.
My advice: during takeoff expect full right rudder if you don’t have strong wind from the right. I’ve seen it advised to put rudder trim between 30-50% for takeoff but for me manual rudder inputs with 0 trimmed rudders work out better - but you need to push it and hold hard during the full throttle climb.
AC seems to react to wind much better / real than the built-in planes and also reacts to control inputs in a more sensitive manner but it does only took me a few traffic circles and airspace practices in my IRL AD to get used to it.
Just finished an LHTL-LJPZ VFR route (real weather but 2 hours earlier to have sunlight) the plane worked perfect incl. AP on a difficult (weird?) VOR/DME approach and also the handflown part went very well.
Give me a day or two and I’ll put something basic together for ya. Start, taxi, take off and landing. If you want anything really in-depth, go throw a few bucks to Ryan at Missionary Bush Pilot and get his video.
that would be pretty cool! thanks for it! will you announce it here i guess? yeah i am looking for more basics. Ryan´s offer will definitely help but personally i cant do a deep dive here (married with kids ;-))
Yup, I’ll post a link here when its done. Oh, and I get the married with kids thing. Have one daughter in flying school (ouch) and another about to start med school next year (triple ouch)
Curious as to whether people are using linear sensitivity as recommended by SimWorks?
To me, linear seems too sensitive on the controls. I have zero experience with a kodiak, so I have no idea how it should actually feel….but I would imagine the controls are definitely heavier than they are with linear sensitivity. I’m going to add a curve I think.
The real airplane is pretty light in roll, it’s heavy in pitch, more than I thought an airplane this size would be. We tried to get the pitch as close to the real thing as possible, but the developers told me “pitch is a ■■■■■” in the MSFS world.
I use the linear sensitivity and it took me a little time to accommodate to the reactions, but I succeeded. I use HC Alpha yoke, it’s already heavy on pitch and light on roll so I assume it’s close enough.
They will get what they ask for either way due to the price difference and i happily pay the premium for ORBX for the comfort of a one click update.

Yup, I also did purchase the Kodiak 100 + Okavango Delta today via ORBX Central for that same reason with only EUR 9.89 more for the bundle. I paid the difference for the convenience when it comes to udpates later and I like the way ORBX organizes with all add-ons.
My first flight ever, worked well with Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo.
I had a few hours of good fun flying the kodiak today with the plane empty. But as soon as I tried adding passengers and cargo it became uncontrollable to take off, it pulls up really steep and fast to the left immediately as it rotates no matter how I try to correct it with rudder or aileron and then it stalls and crashes, happened 2 times in a row even after restarting the sim. I’m probably doing something wrong but it was so dramatic it did not seem realistic behavior.
