Easy fix. Pull the fuse for the standby attitude indicator, bottom row and middle, 3 amp fuse. Will increase fps a lot. Can also pull the fuse for the co-pilot PFD.

Guess it depends case by case. I have a low-end spec (1660 Super) but disabling the standby instrument gives me only +1 FPS. Though I’ve seen other people reporting 20+ and more…

You can see a guide here https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016003159-Camera-Overview

Worked. Thanks!!

Despite buying on Christmas Eve, I just got my first flight in today in VR - Fenland to Boston Aerodrome (Boardsides) which is a very short, narrow strip running along the edge of a rugby pitch, via RAF Coninsgby - which was full of Kodiaks on the apron! :astonished:

Weather was really lousy - but the aircraft was absolutely magic. Despite not being keen on glass cockpits I can see myself spending a lot of time in this model (relatively speaking - my flight time is hugely limited these days for health reasons).

I was a little concerned, especially after some customer reports on flight dynamics behaviour, that it wouldn’t be as good as the LHC Kodiak I fly in FSX/P3D but it’s far better.

Only downer is that we don’t have an amphib.

Big bonus is the excellent spinning prop textures, especially in bad weather - please explain to Asobo how it’s done!

Apologies if this has been discussed - but is the frame rate in the cockpit much lower in this plane than most? When I go external view I’m pulling down 55+ frames but I get mid-30’s in the cockpit. Fun plane to fly but the cockpit frame drop is jarring somewhat.

Hmm…haven’t noticed anything like that. The Kodiak seems pretty frame rate friendly.

Interesting. I’ve never had this issue with any orher plane before so I’m not sure what’s causing it. Thanks for the feedback

I’ve heard that pulling the fuse for the backup instruments has the effect of reducing the load on the simulator, thus raising the frame rate.

Maybe give that a try?

Thanks! I will give that a go

Thank you - this gave me about 8-9 FPS. Interesting. This is much better… appreciate it.

Hey which is the Co-pilot PFD fuse?
I can’t seem to locate it

My JF Arrows give me a solid 60fps but the Kodidak drop me down to 35fps!
The Altidue indicator got me back to 50 I’m hoping the cp PFD will get me another 10fps back!

On the far left side of the fuse panel, about half way down from the top you will see 2 5 amp fuses…the upper one is for the left hand PFD, the lower one is for the right side PFD (if you zoom in the label says something like navigation number 2 or something like that).

I’m in VR and no issue with frame rate. Seems comparable to other planes with EFIS. I tried popping the circuit breaker with no change in FPS. This is in VR which works really well with the Kodiak.

Does deactivating the co-pilot PFD actually improve FPS? I haven’t tried that one - since it’s just mirroring the pilot PFD I would assume any performance difference would be tiny to none. Turning off the STBY ATT gives me an extra 5-10 FPS though, been doing that since day 1.

It’s pretty CPU heavy, so I’m guessing you have a higher end CPU with the headroom to run it without much of a performance hit.

True, other than the indicator lights of the autopilot, and the AoA indexer lights being completely invisible in VR (G2, everything on 100% and ultra here)

Just out of curiosity, if you move your head toward the center of the aircraft, do the lights become visible then? I ask because I noticed the same thing with the comm 1/2 indicator lights on the default 172, right after the last update. I thought the lights weren’t working at all, but happened to notice them out of the corner of my eye once, then found out that they would appear as my head moved toward the right, from the normal left-seat position, and would disappear again as I moved my head back. It almost felt like there was an obstacle between my eyes and the lights. Just wondering if this is a new sim issue, rather than an airplane-specific issue.

It is exactly as you describe! However, I have not found a way to make the AoA indexer lights appear consistently, no matter how I move my head!
