For what it’s worth Kodiak and Nxi working well here. No CTD’s at all.
I’m CTD free ever since i deleted the GNS530 mod and stopped using rolling cache. I’m using the NXI with the Kodiak and it’s fine at the moment. The thing is with MSFS, it would be too hard to point fingers at what causes CTDs when the party is alive and kicking inside the community folder. Could be anything that stopped the CTDs, could be a coincidence. Could be the rolling cache trick. Or was it really the GNS530 mod? NO IDEA. But i’m happy.
Besides worrying about what causes CTDs, you also have to worry about mods conflicts as well, specifically with fragile stuff like navigation/avionics mods.
I’m on xbox so no community folder and no navigation mods.
just started using the Kodiak and liking it so far…
1)Is it using the stock g1000 or the g1000 nxi version and is there any way to switch it to say the GTN750?
2)Has anyone got traffic working with it?
Uses the NXi or stock, depends on what you have installed. Unfortunately you can’t swap the avionics to something else. And traffic works with live traffic on, as far as I know.
ok thanks
1)assume its better to use the NXi which I have installed over the WT G1000 or is it essentially the same
2)how can I access the planes options screen?
3)i saw the selector for traffic bottom left of the panel - just you just click it on or are there more options somewhere else? (traffic seems to be displaying but not really getting any collision warnings) - note I use AIG traffic…
NXi is far, far better in my view. Way more functionality. Not sure what you mean by ‘planes options screen’ sorry. And it has a traffic display, but there is no TCAS system so you won’t get warnings.
I heard the NXi is finally ‘fixed’!?
Most of my flying is where I already know where I’m going, or just going out and figuring it out along the way, so I use rudimentary at best ATC and flight plans in the Kodiak. Sure I’d rather have the NXi, but for the most part in my normal use it’s like having 2 more CD’s in the changer…
I absolutely adore this aircraft and after at least 50 hours in how absolutely attached you get to it. You know what it’s going to do and what it can do and just has that true connected feel. I like a lot of the aircraft I have and feel completely proficient in, but the Kodiak and the 172 steam in particular just feels like you’re actually ‘there’ hanging under the wing. The Goose is starting to get to that point for me too. I sit with the 55" only 2" behind the yoke, in those aircraft I almost find myself leaning in my chair to look ‘out’ the windows at times.
means is there an option screen hidden away somewhere in the cockpit where you can config the plane(like add cargo ect…? (sometimes its done as an ipad )
by goose assume you mean this one?
Adding cargo etc is done through the weights and balances in the sim, there’s no tablet I’m afraid.
The BigRadials Grumman Goose. On XBOX FINALLY an amphibian that can break 120 Knots, hits the radial bug, the vintage bug, and makes a case for everyone with this sim to own a buttkicker…
not seen this one before - presume its significantly better than the freeware?
For the Kodiak? It’s cake to just edit the loadout in the aircraft setup screen, 4 different interior configurations, add cargo to the cargo rows and passengers to the passenger rows(2 configurations), and a visible copilot. Flying around HI with 3 passengers, a copilot, and some cargo on a nice day makes this sim worth the trouble.
The Big Radials goose? It’s fantastic with extra cheese and double bacon. Don’t think there’s any ‘visual’ passengers/cargo. Hidden panel gives basic GPS and some various interior/exterior add-ons, and leather wrapped yokes. And has some basic autopilot features hidden in plain sight. Makes good time at about 152KN without blowing up the engines, which is fun in it’s own way.
Normally I cruise at about 2000RPM and around 28 or so MP, gives me about 130-140kts. Not tried to go above that in cruise incase I blow those radials haha.
Around 2170 rpm at just under 31 and a wee bit of leaning and it’s very happy at 151(@ the typical 2000-5000’). Seems to be in a bit more enjoyable sound profile there too.
If the Flotiak comes out I would be happy if the Kodiak and Goose were the only planes in the sim. I love a lot of aircraft in the sim, but these two beg for you to find something to DO with the aircraft.
Cheers dude, I’ll try that
It’s my go-to in the sim at the mo. Such a good aircraft.
Love the Kodiak too, my favourite i. The sim so far on XBOX. Can anyone explain how you see a copilot? I always add the weight for co-pilot as I do for pax and cargo but while they appear the co-pilot is never visible…
I think if you add co pilot weight while in the sim you won’t see the co pilot. You need to add the weight when you are still in the world map and planning your flight. Also the weight has to be above a certain amount, I would try at least 150 pounds.
