SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100 one the best aircraft for MSFS 2020

If you cant get it from any of the four alternatives in your order email, find me on Discord and send me a screenshot of your purchase receipt. I will get you another link tomorrow.

Our server was hit from demand about 4× harder than we expected.

@ScarsStitches it seems that MSFS autopilot has a trim of his own. So when you turn off the AP, trim jumps back to what you had before you turned it on. This isn’t realistic and we and a couple other devs have reported it to Asobo -I don’t know if it has been fixed since.

If you want to check, when cruising set your aircraft trim for roll right and pitch down (example). Turn in the AP and let it level her. Then turn off and see If she stays level or goes down and right.

So for a casual player like myself, is there really much a difference between this and the Caravan?

Finally have the takeoffs pretty much nailed now. My mistakes were trimming up rather than down, and I also had more luck with flaps 20 rather than flaps 10. Pitching up gently just as I pass 55kts.

I don’t need to use any rudder trim either as I found taking out the right rudder after takeoff is easier/faster than simultaneously taking out the rudder trim.

Concentrating on smooth takeoffs first, then maintaining centre line tracking during climb out after, though I’m pretty close to that now. I’ve performed three consecutive takoffs that approach what I could do in the Caravan, so that makes me very happy.

Eagerly looking forward to the float version. Ski’s would be fantastic if possible.

Well i’m relieved it’s not me then lol. Was pulling hair trying to figure out what i’m doing wrong. Hopefully Asobo gets this fixed asap!

I will try the AP roll but i’m sure it will happen.

The Caravan is much easier as she doesn’t pull to the left as much, you don’t have to worry about your centre of gravity and how it affects handling, just make sure you keep the weight under the limit. The plane flies the same no matter what, to me.

The Kodiak requires care and respect for flying technique. You need to watch out for three things: CG, trim, pedals/rudder. If those are set before take-off, you just need to practice a few runs.

I watched an MBP video earlier today, keeping an eye on the MFD whenever it was in sight. It looks like they flew the entire flight with full right rudder trim.

I did have a play around with that, but I couldn’t find any way to make that work in the sim. Small amounts of trim were all that was necessary in cruise. I think they even had full right trim when they landed.

That can also depend on wind. If he had a right Xwind, he would probably need all the right pedal he could get. Did you see his wind on the PFD?

I’ll have to re-watch the video to see. I think he may have said what it was on approach, but I’ll go back to check.

Wind a few seconds after takeoff.

Mid descent, some right rudder trim removed:

On final, wind doesn’t seem that strong. Slight tail wind from the left:

Sorry, my bad.

80 is very fast, but doable. Try this technique here: High Speed Final Demo - Kodiak 100 - YouTube

@hobanagerik looking at that I guess strong crosswind and significantly aft CG.

Edit: that’s a lot of trim for a 2kt crosswind. Given its from the right, he would even need less. Maybe ask him in the comments.

Good idea, thanks.

Oh yes! The Kodiak beats the Caravan by a country mile. It’s hard to write down on paper (screen), but it so much character & depth about it. The sounds (which make a big deal for me) are awesome. The flight model is superb. There’s something ‘real’ about the TO, for which you have to learn the trim setup or it will bite. It taxis well, looks amazing and is extremely versatile.

In my ‘hangar’ I have the A32NX, Aerosoft CRJ, Just Flight Turbo Arrow, WT CJ4 - and now this. If it’s not at the top - it’s close.

Go buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

For the sounds I turned off some of the FSRealistc sound effects as the defaults are so much better, reverse in particular. The engine sounds are really well done to these amateur ears.

I always shut the AP off at the 500-foot callout at the latest and fly her in.

Can confirm. From the videos I have seen where the takeoff was just like mine were, I’m reasonably certain they are trimming up, not down for takeoff.

How do I get the flap and elevator settings to display on the MFD

How do I set up the internal config for one passenger and the rest cargo? Whenever I try to create that I get multiple passengers where there should be cargo because I am loading weight in the rows.

What is the maximum weight capability for each row?

Trying to recreate some of the PNG flights with a passenger and cargo.

I don’t think you can currently. For elevator trim I’ve been moving from its default of 12 o’clock to about 10 o’clock.

There may be additional complication for things like the takeoff trim arc. The NXi would need something dined to display, and this would vary from plane to plane. If this isn’t already defined somewhere, each developer would then need to define this in their flight model somewhere so the NXi can display it.

Is this the NXI or default, from your post
