Just installed and did a quick flight from ESSA to ESSB. Night IFR in snow and low ceilings. Flew great. No problem with take off or landing roll. Everything worked except reverse thrust because I could not figure out how to bind it to my Bravo. Any ideas? Thank you.
I found on my bravo that the throttle axis operated the reverse without making any changes. Idle is about 40% up. Forward give you throttle and pulling it down gives you reverse.
Here is a pic of my quickly tossed together AirManager panel.
Waiting for Experimental Sim to make a good panel for it. This will work for now.
I didnāt notice that but Iāll give it a try again. Which axis did you use for your throttle? 1 or 2 on the bravo?
I will check but I think the first lever is bound to throttle axis 1 (0-100%).
Here are my bindings
Are there any plans to release this to Orbx like previous planes?
With regards to the Kodiak comment, I recently asked the manufacturer for scrutiny and they confirmed that the flight model is very good. Granted there will be issues and limitations, but planes like the Kodiak and PC-12 have a lot of research put into them because we want to force you to fly them.
That means to respect CG, weight, aerodynamic forces, engine effects, procedure. There is fun where you take a plane and carelessly fly looking out the window. The other fun js where you learn a plane by reading or crashing and the reward comes every day as you master the machine bit by bit. We try for the latter.
The Kodiak is still a favourite because if you forget all that, it will āexciteā you.
You need to figure out a way to get your aircraft flight models hosted outside the sim (ala A2A). Get yourself some bad#$% programmers in Cyprus
And i agree, the fun is in the challenge, especially knowing that itās all NOT fictional and based on research and reviews by the real world manufacturer.
For me, that philosophy is precisely where I think this product (and the Kodiak) might not be for me. I love realism, I love procedures, POHs, all of that. And the more closer-to-reality a plane is modelled, the better.
But at the same time you have to acknowledge weāre still just trying to emulate something on a little screen, using a keyboard, mouse (and in my case) and litttle TCA joystick with a simple throttle slider. And that extreme realism is sometimes hard, if not impossible, to achieve in that way.
And at some point you have make trade offs, purely to make things a better experience for a desktop sim/game. Extreme devotion to realism can become a hindrance and make the overall experience unpleasant, and dare I say, less fun.
And from what I see and read, SWS is not very prepared to make those compromises. Which for me (and this is just my opinion, other will feel different!) makes their products less attractive.
For that reason Iāve never pulled the trigger on the Kodiak, and I will wait a good while to see what the PC-12 will end up becoming.
Question: why is the altitude select for the autopilot not compatible with the Bravo controls?
Can anyone give some insight please
Youāre asking for both and you canāt really have that at the same time. Thatās a contradiction in terms. The aim for realism or dumb if down for lower end peripherals and home pilots. Iām sure many compromises are made already and each dev will have to decide in which areas they are made. Sometimes thatās forced upon them by sim limitations or other factors and aircraft can be quite different. You are really missing out if you donāt own either especially seeing as the Kodiak has been on sale at times. Itās still my favourite aircraft in the sim.
Just picked this up, printed the checklists, and opened the manual, the only thing i found referencing the pusher test was in the checklist, saying to do it?
ive then pulled up overkills guide with real pilot on youtube, and they list it as press pusher test on, introduce torque, and the test will start pulling forward, but even if i go full throttle, the test doesnt start?? is there a prerequisite for the pusher test to work? or is this a current bug? im in the 5 bladed exec.
If you read the manual you must of skimmed over that bit. Itās explained in there how to do the test and clear the annunciation. You missed putting flaps 15 before you start the test.
Yep, definitely skimmed, and thats being generous haha, was looking for section named pusher test, but couldnt see anything to that effect. EDIT: just found that page, oops
Cheers for the help man!!
ps anyone else have trouble engaging GPS on the PMS750? or do i need to upgrade that
Do you mean itās better not to buy this product if you donāt have rudder pedals? I am flying just with the T.16000 with no pedals and might have to pass PC-12 just because of that?
@kikiDC3 This canāt be the case. The T16000M has a pretty good yaw axis.
It provides way more precise rudder control than cheap plastic rudder pedals do.
So i downloaded the latest verion of the PMS750, and the unit still doesnt change over to GPS
when i press the CDI button, it changes to GPS for a second, then switches straight back to VLOC.
Anyone else have this issue?
i mentioned his earlier - you cant change cdi in the gtn, you need to press the NAV button on the black box near the weaher radar box, in the middle console at the bottom of the screen .
To swap between GPS and VLOC you have to use the source selection button on the central EFIS control panel and not the gps soft button.
No not at all. I donāt know what I said that made you think that. I have a nice set of TPR pedals now and love how natural they feel to use but for years when I first got into flight sim I used a twist grip joystick without too many issues. Itās just not natural but you soon get used to it.
