Simworks Studios Vans RV10

I just did a test with the RV-10 and confirmed that I’m seeing the same thing. Cruising in real-world weather southeast of KSBA at wide open throttle, 2300 RPM, and mixture set to peak EGT, I am getting a stable cruising speed of 174 KTAS with flaps at zero and 162 KTAS with flaps at -3.

After updating to the new version I’m getting some very strange artifact only once the engine is started. It’s like the prop isn’t rendering. I’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what might be causing it? See image below. I’ve reached out to SWS but haven’t heard anything back yet.

I’ve solved the issue! It was a prop mod installed a while ago to remove the artifacts from using motion reprojection. Once that was removed the problem is gone. Hope this helps anyone else who runs into a similar issue.

Bug, restarting the flight tends to fix it. I believe they said they do have a fix lined up for this one soon.

maybe this could help: The GTN750 doesn’t display / power on

Did the update fix the ALT/HDG bug increment bugs?

I flew several flights in the RV-10 this week and did not have any issue with AT/HDG bug increments. I did have a problem with the TDS GTN650 not powering on. The RV flew adequately with the G3X units but I did miss having use of the 650.

No, HDG is in 10° steps and ALT is in 1000ft steps for me… sad

I noticed an update for the rv-10 that has fixed the -3 degree flaps. They now add a few knots in cruise instead of slowing you down. Very nice cruiser!

:warning: This wonderful aircraft is currently 90% off in the marketplace. Get it if you haven’t yet! Probably the fastest click I’ve ever done after seeing it.

Indeed! On sale in the SWS with other airplanes made by them.

If you would have to choose RV-10 or -14, which one would you take (and why)?

I have both now. I think I chose the RV-14 first (also in a discount, but not so steep) because I liked the cockpit layout more. The visibility is also better as there’s no “pillar” that spoils the view. Also, there’s two variants in the RV-14 package, a tail dragger and a… not tail dragger. The RV-10 is excellent as well, though. It’s a bit bigger (4 seats instead of 2). From the top of my head I don’t know the spec differences between the two, they’re quite similar, but both are great to fly. I’d say the engine sound of the RV-10 is maybe a bit better.

For me the 14 is better. Smaller, faster, more fun to fly. It also feels like there was more love put into that compared to the 10 which feels a bit sterile in comparison. I’ve uninstalled that one now but the 14 I fly quite a bit. I’m looking forward to the RV-8 next.

EXACTLY this. And like every plane in MSFS, you have to get the default view right before it is truly right. Most aircraft default views are a horror show and can actually have you flying it completely wrong. It’s not as darty as the 14 and gets on step quickly. Sounds are excellent, you can really hear the prop, and everything works. Really good for cooking along at 4-5K’ 'and taking it all in.

They are currently 2 bucks each, no need to choose, at that price get both! I just did exactly that, although yet to fly either.

I just checked in the marketplace for other sim works planes that might be on sale, and discovered I now have a full deck.

That`s true. They were 5€ at their website but only 2€ at the MP. What a bargain!

For 2 bucks this was a no brainer. I already had the RV-14 and the RV-10 is nice little companion piece. I actually like the glass cockpits in these. I think it’s the size and the much more pleasant colors on the screens (especially the sky representation). It just aesthetics, but it does matter! Hopefully WT doesn’t change the colors to the worse at some point.

The sounds on these two aircraft are amazing!

If you only want one, the 14 offers more in the package. Taildragger and nose wheel variant and the ability to do aerobatics in addition to fast efficient cruising. I don’t care a ton for aerobatics and like the rv-10 in real life more so it’s what I tend to fly the most.

Can anyone report if this issue is still lingering today with the G3X touch in the RV10?
