Simworks Studios Vans RV10

Speaking of the manual, I’m on Xbox: where can I find a manual?

Try this: Van's RV-10 for Microsoft Flight Simulator - SimWorks Studios

Section below description with Manuals button.

Hi. I have the Marketplace Version. How can I deactivate the copilot avatar? I tried to reduce the copilot weight to zero but doesn’t work.

Try reducing the weight of the co-pilot to 10lbs and that should work.

It has worked. Many thanks!

No cowl flap on the 10, it has the cowl at the front under the spinner. The 14 has cowl flaps.

I just got the RV-10 and it’s FANTASTIC!! I flew the freeware RV-7 for a while and had a great time, but wanted a bit different feel. I decided to pull the trigger on the RV-10 and wow, I’m so happy I did!

I’m having a bit of trouble getting the GTN750 to work to replace the center MFD. I can get the PMS GTN650 to replace the default GNS430. With this config, all of the default G3X PFDs and MFD are present and all of the displays will work with no problem. My autopilot also works completely fine too with all systems talking to each other. The first pic shows this config.

My issue is that I can’t get the GTN750 to replace the default G3X MFD. I’ve tried disabling the WT G3x mod but there’s no difference in this configuration (see below for more WT mod discussion). I can’t seem to figure it out! Here’s the list of folders that I have in my community folder:

  • pms50-gns530
  • pms50-instrument-gtn750
  • sky4sim-os
  • sws-aircraft-vansrv10-pmsgtn
  • sws-pms50-gtn750WTT-aircraft-rv10
  • sws-aircraft-vansrv10
  • workingtitle-gx

The above folders will give me a working GTN650 but will keep the center G3X. Life is okay with this config, I can fly and do everything that I want/need to, I just don’t have the GTN750 and have to use the G3X MFD yuck.

I’ve also tried adding in JayDee’s GTN 750 mod with Butters’ GTN750 RV-10 mod but this causes my center MFD to flicker to the PMS GTN750 for a few frames right when starting and then the center MFD will go blank for the rest of the flight. It also reverts my PMS GTN650 to the default GNS430. There is a difference with this config as to whether or not I have the WT G3x mod present. The first pic is without the mod, the second pic is with the mod.
No WT G3X mod:

With WT G3X mod:

Which I feel is odd because my understanding was that the mod provided the synthetic vision and the default Asobo G3X was the standard blue/brown.

Just to make sure that I’ve got the right folders, when I add in the additional two mods, my community folder includes all of the above folders plus:

  • ZZZ JD 00 GTN750 MAIN MOD 2.1
  • ZZZZ Butters GTN750 RV-10

The in-cockpit tablet (the one by the pilot’s lower left ankle) also remains black when I pull it out, not sure if it’s relevant. The tablet that you can access from the plugin on the top bar works fine, just not the tablet that’s “physically” in the plane. I downloaded and installed the Sky4Sim NG pad program after installing the RV-10 but prior to trying to install the PMS650/750.

Any help on how to get the GTN 750 to replace my center MFD would be awesome!!

Edit: I realized that I said “gtn530” throughout when I meant “gtn650.”

The RV10 uses a GTN650, not a 750.
You should not try to replace the central MFD with a 750. Use the 650 or the GTN750 toolbar panel.
In your mod list you should remove the pms50-gns530 and the workingtitle-gx. Don’t install any ZZZ package.
The WTT mode for the RV10 replaces the MFD/PFD maps with a one that is compatible with the Working Title technology. You will get a better flight planner and your instruments will be synchronized.

Your first screen shot represent the configuration in which the different addons are meant to be used. Three G3X screens and the GTN 650 (which is part of the PMS50 GTN750 addon) replacing the stock GNS 430. The sws-pms50-gtn750WTT-aircraft-rv10 mod does not replace the G3X MFD. As for the pms50-gns530 and the workingtitle-gx, you can disable them. They will only cause issues. The pms50-gns530 because, I strongly suspect, is not designed to work with the G3X, at least in the RV-10. And the workingtitle-gx because it is deprecated since a long time. On top of that, the sws-pms50-gtn750WTT-aircraft-rv10 mod incorporate code replacing the stock G3X specifically for the RV-10 to make the GTN650 and G3X fully work together.

Having flown in an RV-6 that my family built & owned, I can tell you that the freeware RV-7 is pretty ■■■■ close in how it flies & handles. It has all of the characteristics of the real plane. Our RV-6 didn’t have a constant speed prop, that is probably the most glaring difference in certain parameters of flight performance from what I remember… In fact the developer that did the RV-7 is now working for Simworks on an RV-8 project.
The Simworks RV family all seem to have that slippery RV feel to them & the soundset is awesome…

I’ve flown the RV-7 a lot (in the sim) until the RV-14 was available, a great free addon. The SWS RV’s are indeed a real pleasure to fly. Let’s hope the G3X gets some love from the WT devs. It is a very powerful unit in the real world and such a basic one in MSFS. If WT brings it to the level of the G1000 that will drastically change the way we fly all these small GA’s we have available for the sim.

Did somebody else notice that the trim flaps move in the wrong direction on the exterior model? On the other hand, the effect in the flight model is correct. I have the same issue with the simworkstudios Kodiak.

Are you an RV-10 owner to confirm this?
I haven’t checked it out yet myself, and don’t know which trim method they use, however…

These trim tabs move opposite to how the elevator moves. The animation is correct.

When you want to move the elevator up, you move the tab down. This way the air pushes against it and moves the entire elevator up.

Welcome to the world of servo tabs!

Just had an email link to update this. No sign of a change log in the patch or on the website under ‘Version History’.

“Our testers confirm that the bug causing RV-10 screens to go blank is fixed for all three configurations: GNS430, PMS and TDS GTN650.” - from their discord.

Ah ok thanks, I never had that.

Something else I recently noticed and reported to SWS: the -3 position of the flaps actually slows down the Rv-10 in cruise substantially. In my testing it was at least 10 knots. It’s supposed to reduce drag and speed up the plane.
