Skylink simulations for xbox

Is this product genuine or a con?

msfs-2024

In my opinion, a con. By definition, if it cannot control air traffic, it cannot be labeled as air traffic control. This product preys on console users who crave a better ATC solution and serves them up ChatGPT in a loose wrapper pretending to be ATC. It doesn’t connect to the sim, it cannot control any other air traffic, and (most importantly) it has no awareness of your aircraft whatsoever.

I strongly recommend avoiding this product. Instead, pour your energy into detailed bug reports for the default ATC to help provide the developers with resources to improve what console users do have access to.

Hi guys :slightly_smiling_face:

Developer of SkyLink Comms and associated products here.

I wanted to hop in and address the concern about the product being a ‘con.’ I understand skepticism in the flight sim community but I want to ensure the facts are clear for anyone reading this.

1. Regarding ‘Connection to the Sim’:

You are technically correct that on Xbox and PS5, external apps cannot ‘hook’ directly into the simulator due to console security sandboxing (SimConnect is not available to external apps on console).

2. Why this exists:

We built SkyLink specifically because of that limitation. PC users have many options for injection-based ATC. Console users generally do not. Our goal is to provide an immersive, voice-controlled ATC experience for users who are otherwise stuck with the default system.

3. ‘No Awareness’ & Simulation:

While we don’t read live telemetry (due to the limitation above), the app is not ‘blind.’ We utilize SimBrief integration to import your exact flight plan, route, and payloads. We then use flight-time logic and timers to simulate the progression of the flight. This allows us to provide a structured ATC experience that follows your planned route.

4. Audio Quality:

We also utilize premium ElevenLabs API integration to provide global accents and natural voices, offering a significant audio upgrade over standard text-to-speech.

All of this is detailed on our website as we believe in being fully transparent about how the ‘magic’ works. If you are looking for a hard-linked SimConnect injector, our PC version is for you and the Xbox / PS5 companions we created, aren’t for you. But if you want a realistic audio companion that works where other apps can’t, that is our mission.

Totally understand it’s not for everyone but we do have a large amount of people having a great time flying with our companion applications for console, so while we respect your opinon “Con” is not what this is and we certainly don’t prey on console users as our product listing is fully transparent in what it does.

Happy flying!

This is likely just to turn into a very negative thread very fast so the last thing I’ll say before muting and moving on (which I already said but you glossed over) - you cannot claim to offer an ATC service if it cannot C any AT.

Fair point on the strict definition. On console, no third-party app can control traffic or read live sim telemetry, so we don’t claim to “control AT.”

What SkyLink Comms provides is ATC-style communications and procedural guidance driven by your SimBrief plan, with voice control and high-quality regional voices. We’re transparent about those limitations on the product page.

If someone wants traffic control/injection, that’s a PC-only capability. If someone wants immersive comms on console where those hooks don’t exist, that’s what we built.

Nothing negative was taken from what you said, hence the reason i cleared things up, not glossed it over.

Happy Flying!

Let’s please take direct Vendor to Public conversations to the Skylink Sims support channels, per Code of Conduct. Thanks.

Wouldn’t it be great to get voice control so we can use our headset to “ control “ the ATC instructions. That would make it so close to beyond ATC or SayIntentions.

So I just have a question that , I think , is very important to a sort of realism.

Does your service only respond to your input or does it give instructions also without being asked?

2 easy examples are ;

Does it announce a handoff when you leave and enter another airspace ?

Does it announce you to descent clearance ?

Both examples I mean that your product announces / instruct you to WITHOUT you asking for it first
I’m really interested in your answer !
