SkySimulations DC-9 for 2020 & 2024

Right. There are definitely similarities in cockpit, just older gauges and systems. No FMC so just an INS or VOR nav right?

As far as I know, unless some particular carrier has installed GPS units. But it’s been decades (early 90’s) since I’ve poked my head into any DC-9 or MD-80 family flight deck in person.

pure nice old school

From the screen shots above, this looks like something I flew in MSFS over 20 years ago (whatever version it was back then). On the one hand, might be nice to have it back; OTOH very spoiled by all the modern conveniences we have now in airliners. Caveat emptor folks!

IMPORTANT.As I read on Simmarket:
If you buy 2024 version you can get 2020 UPGRADE BUT only if you previously purchased 2020 version ! Same applies if you buy 2020 version - only 2024 upgrade if you previously bought 2024.
So you have to buy both full price originally separate.
Unless the text on the web page is wrong.

I just read the Simmarket upgrade notes and I’m pretty sure you get whichever one you don’t buy for free.

There is now a review on Simmarket, which is quite an encouraging read. It actually seems to have few bugs for a brand new release, so if SkySimulations are adept at fine-tuning via frequent updates, this could be an essential buy!

I thought I was crazy when I was randomly browsing the justflight website today and saw this plane. Haven’t heard anything about it before. Looking forward to reviews. It could be a nice addition to MSFS

V1-Simulations has scheduled a stream for this plane and the title says ā€œdo not buyā€.

Unsure how bad this has to be with the high price it has for a streamer to make a ā€œdo not buyā€ stream. V1 is usually quite objective.

Wonder why he says ā€œdo not buyā€

I’ve learned when stuff sneaks up like this, it’s more often junk.

Justflight usually does not sell/distribute junk, that is strange. And for that pricing I would expect something similar to the FSS 727.
We’ll see…

Bought it but it won’t install. MSFS2024 version.

I still have FS 2004 (FS9) on an old computer. I use the HJG DC 9-30. Wonderful aircraft.

I guess we’ll find out in three hours…

As long as it isn’t complete junk, there’s the possibility of it receiving regular updates. Many MSFS aircraft that had dodgy beginnings are now pretty good.

Didn’t SkySim absolutely TANK their reputation with the (one of the worst addons ever) MD11 ?

We will see, but as you said, ā€œusuallyā€ they don’t… $$$$ will make you do a lot of things.

It looks pretty decent in this stream, but I’m holding on to my wallet untill proper confirmations.

Certainly looks like an older maddog, no EFB I could see just a clipboard. I think I’m all set with the MD-80 series for now especially when it ports over to 2024.

If someone got this, and own and know also Fokker F28, from the same era, I would appreciate a comparison. F28 is top level, including manuals and systems depth.

That group never put out anything but top-notch add-ons. I’d love to see them bring their stuff into the latest sims!
