FYI - I gave up on that screen after about 20 minutes and decided to restart the sim. Evidently a bad decision as I’m now back at “9% - Activating packages…”

didnt they say during the global preview event it took 5 minutes? This isnt right. even 2020 took less time to install and load
Installing on PC via Steam: Been at 0% “Connect to xbox network” for almost an hour now.
after 57min on 8% i restarted the whole system and launched the FS
now at 6% lol
While you guys will no doubt be flying before me, it really is refreshing to watch the paint dry and not be right there with you.
Got a little hardware maintenance to do before even starting the download. That may even be more enjoyable. 
Pay now…play later or better said much later

I am installing on a separate drive. The installer constantly switched it back to the sustem drive. Fortunately i saw it so it is now installing to where i want it to be.
But just imagine i would have missed that and would have to go through that install all over again…
It’s actually quicker than five minutes once things are up and running.
Hit alt-enter to exit full screen you get your mouse cursor back, then click on the the connect to Xbox yellow box to connect. Then alt-enter again.
Incredible that this slept through MS.

Yeah, i had this too.
As you don’t see your mouse, you must click on the Connect to Xbox network button and sign in with an Xbox account. After successfull login, it will load
Same for me, I created my character and all, then it said, we recognize you, and then I saw an alert at the top saying , restart game to have access to your stuff from MSFS 2020… I did and now I’m stuck at 12% but it’s now called activating packages…not VFS… another 20-30 mins before I can finally try to fly it… but I don’t mind, it’ll work eventually hehe
At least it seems to be doing something
but if that is repeated every start up then it’s not playable.
Because you have to connect to it also. Not wait and look at it.
Alt tab, and return. Now your mouse is back, and you can connnect.

My PC edition is hanging on “connect to Xbox Network” ‘as a cross platform game, we need to connect to a Xbox Network Account to Play’ anyone else have this?
Went through smoothly. Loading was even faster than downloading. But I can’t set a character or adjust settings when started. Menu always loads but didn’t show pictures.
I shut down this mess and drive my carrera race cars in the real world instead.
What a experience today. Norhing learned from MSFS2020
