Snow Coverage still not right

try any area with the same terrain. It is the same all over the Globe. Real Weather works only in low areas.

 Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

doesn’t matter

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

yes

Brief description of the issue:

snow maps are wrong. excessive snow appears in areas with no snow cover on ground IRL.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

NZMC in sim looks like this right now:

But in real life it looks like this:

The reason that this is a bug and not a limitation of your source weather data, is that you say you’re drawing these maps from Meteoblue’s Snow Cover map. Which currently looks like this:

Blue dot is at NZMC. No snow. Nowhere near it.

Provide coordinates (DevMode > Options > Display position)

NZMC is consistently snowy in southern hemisphere summer, but this issue persists across the globe. Just go to some valley near snow-covered mountains and see.

Provide time & date of the observed Weather issue

All the time, for years now. Snow comes too far down the valleys and in-sim snow cover does not match meteoblue snow depth map.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Be somewhere without snow IRL, near snow IRL.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

irrelevant.

Are you using DX11 or DX12?

occurs on both.

Are you using DLSS?

occurs regardless.

Worth pointing out: this detail confounds your lakes and rivers freezing bug because the sim’s snow depth is erroneously too high, which means you’re also getting freezing where you shouldn’t. So now that you’re increasing depth required to show frozen water, you’ll have some

Snow coverage in multiple areas around US seems wrong. Usually showing up as big patches of snow in a middle of a dry area.

This bug also cuts both ways. For example, current Meteoblue coverage at Mt Mansfield in Vermont:

This is consistent with webcams:

But in-sim right now it’s green:

Dev stream says in-sim snow coverage = meteoblue snow depth

Observed reality is in-sim snow coverage != meteoblue snow depth

It seems impossible to tackle things like ice coverage which you say is based on snow depth when snow depth is not being brought in correctly.

I was also frustrated when I tried to fly around the Ofotfjord, taking off at Eveness. All frozen. I thought the Ofotbanan was built because Iron Ore mined in Sweden should be brought to Narvik port for year-round shipping as the Bottenhavet is frozen in the winter. I guess, though, that these things happen only when you want to fly in real weather.

I fear that Meteoblue is not up to this task. Neither is Asobo.

not only the US. The whole World, I am afraid.

yes i have the same issue (since May 2021 !!!). load in LOWI and set to live weather

had the issue with SU14 and now also with SU15
issue with empty community folder or with ORBX LOWI

Notes:
there is no snow anymore. starting with this weekend, bike downhill parks are opening in the mountains (at least up to 1600m / 5000ft).
these webcams are there and you can spot the airport down in the valley:

Asobo, please fix it. You told us you would fix it in SU15, but you probably just made changes to the ice coverage, but not to the actual SNOW coverage. two completely different topics!

If you fly around the Swiss Alps - after Update 15 - Meteo Blue has still not been able to work out a solution with MS. Now, end of May, temps. around 20 deg. Celsius for a long time - the whole area, but maybe also Austria and France, is covered down to sea level with snow all year round if you try Real Weather. I checked out Alaska - same thing. There, even the sea is covered with ice. Pictures from Samedan airport where now the summer hiking season is beginning: First, MSFS, then Webcam

currently for example the region of interlaken has already snow in the valley. currently it is end of summer there and we have heat waves with more than 30* C. At least the lakes are not frozen anymore since the last sim update with the slightest bit of snow.
