Pretty cool the game actually depicts a solar eclipse!
Are you saying that yesterday’s eclipse that passed over Argentina in now passing over Scotland? Amazing!
I wasn’t aware of an eclipse yesterday, however that does make sense!
Screenshots, dude!!!
Nice. Does it show the shadow on the world view where you pick an airport?
It was yesterday, though.
I stand corrected.
No the eclipse was this morning. The times matched up correctly with what was seen in the sim as far as I know.
Wow! Great pics ![]()
You can of course replay the eclipse by setting the time back in the sim. 16:15 UT somewhere in northern Patagonia for the totality. Unfortunately the totality is not simulated in the sim but it’s impressive that eclipses appear nonetheless.
This isn’t correct. No phase of the eclipse was visible from Western Europe. The sim seems to show a partial eclipse for the entire globe whenever there is a real world eclipse going on. Just Google the time and date of any past or future eclipse and see.
I’m moreso wondering if the overall lighting decreases as the moon slowly eclipses the sun.
If it did, THAT would be an AWESOME feature of this sim.
It doesn’t. You can kinda fake the lighting by using the drone and dropping the exposure. Then the eclipse pops right out from the glare and the sky darkens.
Only if you have ray tracing turn on. ![]()
Cool that it is depicted, but in real life it was only visible in the Southern Hemisphere… So Wales… not quite.
Saw it it the sim yesterday when flying from Redhill to Caernarvon. I actually just thought that it was a glitch because there was no transit. All I saw was a static partial eclipse. Fun though.
Yea I had a feeling this was what was happening. I didn’t look into it but figured that none of the phases should have been visible in the northern hemisphere. Anyways seeing a total eclipse in real life is something special and if you have the chance to see it I highly recommend. I took my kids to see the last total eclipse in Carbondale, Illinois back in 2017 and we lucked out where we were the clouds moved out of the way for about half of totality. We have another total eclipse coming where I live in 2024. Very lucky as it is something close to like every 90 years for any two points on earth to see a total eclipse pass over the same point on average.
You do know the concept of a solar eclipse, right? ![]()
