Quality of life improvement: With an increasing amount of aircraft, the selection process becomes increasingly complicated in free flight. Most users have a common set of aircraft they prefer flying, unfortunately only the last aircraft is remembered in free flight as preselected. Every time when a user wants to switch an aircraft, he has to spend an extensive amount of manually scrolling through the menu or using the search to find the right aircraft. The user can’t control the sort order and especially for the aviators edition the repetitive task of finding the last used aircraft is exhausting.
Recommendation: Sort aircraft based on last used time, so that recent aircraft can be easily selected on the “Change aircraft” selection screen.
This simple change, would allow users to quickly switch between their recent aircraft. They could still switch to the other categories and use the search as they are used to. If needed make it an optional setting to not disturb existing user flows.
Here is a screenshot of the beginning of the “All” page, it apparently shows the aircraft in alphabetical order, while I don’t understand that ATR is listed before Aero.
On the last page, we can see the “de Havilland” after the Zlin aircraft. Either way, I don’t want to waste time scrolling through this list, when I already simply want to pick the aircraft I was recently flying.
Apparently it’s sorted with capital letters first and the lower letters, hence “ATR” wins over “Aero” and “Zlin” wins over “de Havilland”. Be that as it may, it’s just complicated to find my frequently used aircraft and this sorting doesn’t help at all.
So I find myself using the search and use the virtual PS5 keyboard to input “62” to filter for my favourite DA62, again and again - very tedious. So please sort the list by most recently used aircraft, this should be only a minor change, but would have a huge quality of life impact for everyone.
