Is this possible? I know you can click anywhere and start a flight but it‘s always at a high altitude (ie 30,000ft).
Alternatively, I do this for approaches but it only does straight in approaches, which isn’t useful for, say, Kai Tak.

Sure can, once “area” (I use departure) is selected ,open nav log tab and input your desired altitude, close nav log tab and hit fly now. The sim starts you at location and at selected altitude. If you choose a destination, apt/rwy, you can also select ifr, vor etc and waypoints will be populated in the planes avionics.
