Still stuck on loading screen at 98%

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Even after the last update announcement, the simulator still stalls seemingly forever at 98% loading. I’m looking at my network activity and there doesn’t seem to be any significant data transfer going on. It just hangs at 98% while looping its video endlessly.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes. I even completely reinstalled the simulator in Gamepass. It’s on the C: drive. I also deleted the Official2020 folder and tried again. It recreated the folder, but in Official2020, Official2024, and Community there’s no data. The two Official* directories have a OneStore directory which is empty.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time, and has been going on all week.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 from the XBox app.
  2. Wait until it stalls forever at 98%.
  3. Wait some more.
  4. Burn hand on graphics card which is inexplicably running at 65% due to rendering the video loop endlessly even when in the background.

You seem to have done everything I know to try. Weird.

A few thoughts.

  1. Are you using a VPN?
  2. Maybe check your Windows Event Log. Maybe there is something in there?
  3. Even though you reinstalled. Load up FS2024 in Add/Remove Programs. Go into the Advances menu then try a “Repair”. If that doesn’t help then try a “Reset”.

When I’m on again I’ll see if I can find a log file. Surely that would say something. Hopefully. Maybe.

I guess a last straw is to remove all peripherals except keyboard and mouse then reboot and try again. It’s silly, but when we’re clutching at straws…

Not sure if this will actually work, but the below command will clear cloud based profile data. Might be worth a try in case there is any data there that has become corrupt and preventing completion of the install…

Open a Command Prompt as administrator, copy/paste the below and hit return.

start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

  1. I’ve tried it with and without, and even used exit points in both the US and Europe. No dice.
  2. Nothing obvious.
  3. Already tried that one.

I haven’t been able to find a log file, or at least not one that shows any obvious error.

Thank you, Blitzner303. That command appeared to do it. I think it cleared all my settings, and probably career mode, but I don’t care. So apparently something on Azure got borked and flushing it worked. So after all this time, problem solved. I’ll buy you a virtual turkey: :turkey:

Update: It didn’t reset career mode. I was pleasantly surprised.
