Stuck at loading world data at start up 60-68% after 12/2 update

After the 12/2 update my pc(xbox app) version is not advancing beyond 60-68%. I have done the following:

  1. Windows 10 and nvidia are up to date.
  2. Nothing is in my community folder
  3. I went as far as removed my streamed add ons that I purchased in the marketplace
  4. I reinstalled the sim 2x (C drive)
  5. I deleted my cloud save in command prompt
  6. It started up fine on my xbox console(no mouse arrow however), avanced to the start up menu.
  7. Tried swapping my internet out with a back up I have for work.

I had no issues prior to this update with starting up. I have not been able to get into the sim all day, tried multiple times throughout the day letting it sit on the loading screen. Varies around 60,62, 68% where it always gets stuck.

I am having the same issues.

Windows 11 for me. Empty community folder. I own a ton of 3rd party content through markerplace. Good internet connection at 700mbps speed test.

Getting stuck at 60 to 68.

I can get into the sim on the first load after a reinstall, but it only works once. Then its back to not loading past 68. If i reinstall again it works.

Im physically located in the midwest usa. Not sure if that matters regarding servers.

Worst of all is these uninstalls and reinstalls dont allow me to use medium texture settings. On my initial load i change the textures back to medium, but they wont apply til i reload… which i cant do.

What a mess.

There was a thread somewhere that explained this is caused by the update and a problem with CPU’s having a lot of cores and threads. It explained how to work around the issue, but I can’t find the thread. I don’t really want to downgrade the number of cores or threads my computer has just to play 2024 - as the workaround explained.

I was hoping that this was a real bug that was identified, but it seems todays fix was only for people who can still play the game and have career mode ctd issues. We might be stuck with 2020 until maybe next weeks update.

edit - the thread discussing this was two more threads down

Hi,

me too.

  1. Deactivate hyperthreading.
  2. Click under installed apps / Flightsimulator2024 on repair and reset
  3. Check which planes from 2020 are under /Localstate/streamed Packages
  4. Deactivate them with a new created EMPTY folder which has exactly the sam name as under streamed Packages folder e.g. Cessna170b

That helped me. Good luck

Did those, same issue still. I have a i9 11900kf cpu, only 8 cores. It legit freezes when it hits 60-68%, background video included.

Got the game today, stuck at 68% Loading World Data. Tried multiple tips. No luck.
I’ll try again tomorrow or it will be refund time.

update, the refund fixed the issue
Back to 2020

Shark… When i place the empty folder of the same name in the StreamedPackages folder and try to load it, it just refills the folder. Didnt seem to work.

If i entirely delete the streamed packages contents they all just come back when i try to load the sim.

Disabled hyperthreading, did a reinsfall, and a repair reset.

Only thing i havent done is delete my cloud data. Dont want to wipe my career…

I was having a great time with the sim. Too bad…

Sigh, day 2 of not being able to use this at all. I hadnt even touched the community folder on 2024 yet so its all on them. Ive left the sim in their hands, I can hop on 2020 no issues with my stacked community folder no issues ever on it.

Try syncing your PC’s clock…

This is for Win 10, but likely similar in 11…

  • Right click on the window clock on the task bar.
  • Select adjust date/time.
  • Click on the Sync Now button in settings

Now try loading the sim again. Can you report back if this works as it will likely help other users.

this did not work for me

Look at the last section “Loading issues (stuck at 97% or 98%)” of that support article. It is slightly different since the percentage reported is higher but maybe one of the proposed solution can also work:

Related topic but no solution there: Stuck at 68% MSFS2024 (PC)

Did that yesterday as one of the first steps too. I havent event been able to get on the sim 1x since yesterdays update. Ive done about 20 suggestions. At this point im guessing its a marketplace add on that is automatically installed ever time you start the sim up, I tried removing them, each start up it reinstalls them. One of them is probably causing an issue since its happening while loading the wolrd data around 60%. Im betting a scenery, airport or city purchase that was compatible but isnt. Im just guessing at this point.

I followed all those suggestions already also. No difference. They emailed me suggestions tied to command prompts that also did nothing. Hopefully a patch is coming soon, its my week off to enjoy this in the evenings, spend a good 6 hours so far today and yesterday running through every suggestion. 3 reinstalls so far.

They said that in next week patch they’ll add a safe mode option, so it will allow to start without any mods/addons in order to determine if issue could be with one of those.

They need to do better than that. They need a a la carte style safe mode that allows you to add and remove individual add ons so you can trouble shoot which is the problem.

Not just turn all on and all off.

I finally got in the sim, I did something weird, I started msfs 2020. It had an updated, I left it on the menu and booted 2024, it powered through and I got in. I did discover that if I select my f86 Sabre and select configure it get stuck in a load screen that never ends. Maybe that plane is the death of me and maybe it was what I had ended with last time I flew and quit with an f4 to close the sim. It failed to start up on its own after again, stuck at 61%. Background video is now smooth again rather than jumpy and freezing at the 61%. 2nd attempt to run msfs2020 and then 2024 failed to push beyond 62%, it gives a slight freeze in the background video when it stops advancing. But that Sabre f86 add on is broken and may or may not be a reason I cant get back in my sim. Since it a stream add on I cant remove it at all and if I do prior to launch it just adds it back right away during loading sadly.

I don’t think it’s tied to any specific 2020 addon.

I have been repurchasing items from the 2020 Marketplace over the past two days - so I can be in a fully streamed addon state in 2024.

Each time I purchase something from the 2020 Marketplace and then close 2020, I am then able to log into the main screen of 2024 (I get the message that Transfer is complete and to restart). When I restart, I am stuck at 60% again.

interesting, so you are saying that every time you make a purchase update to your profile, you can log in once… but then on the subsequent login it is screwed again?

That has been the case for me on about at least 5 out of 6 times I’ve re-purchased something from the 2020 Marketplace. I am currently still locked out of 2024 since my final 2020 re-purchase, succesful subsequent log into 2024, and attempt to relog back in.
