Stuck on loading screen, 2 Weeks of Troubleshooting Help!

OK so I’ve been having this trouble for the past 2 weeks. Initially I purchased MSFS on steam. Downloaded the steam installer and was greated with 161gb of data to DL in the msfs content manager. After hours and hours of messing about trying to work out why my download was constantly restarting I realised I was required to limit my download speed to Max 2 MB/s otherwise I would end up in a forever loop on certain files. 22 hours later finally completed the DL. Excited to start flying I waited as the Dune promo showed up and a blue loading bar which upon arrival to about 80% I was greeted with a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG popup giving a few reasons as to why. After hours of searching again on the internet for answers, I updated all drivers, rolled back drivers, DDU and reinstall. verified files, windows updates.. all the jazz.. I have no overclocking on my pretty much brand new pc besides factory OC, (4090, i9 13900k, 32gb ddr4, 2tb 980 pro m.2) I decided the game files were corrupt and I un installed msfs, removed all files and reinstalled.. another 22 hours.. to my surprise loading up again and the same thing happened.. same error device hung in the same spot. After more hours of searching and following every trick, fix and work around I could find. I came across a post about placing a “TdrLevels” file in graphics driver part of regedit. After doing that and loading up the game, the loading page shows up. Gets to 80% and freezes, but no error message.. ( not sure if it’s better than before, or the same but just not showing error) either way I’m stuck at the same spot. After more research and looking for driver/firmware updates for all of my hardware, checking temps, I sent a ticket to support who proceeded to send me through every single forum post I’d already tried and after noticing my hours played for MSFS on steam was coming upto 65 hours and I hadn’t even see a menu yet I decided to re install msfs one more time. So I did.. and .. nothing.. same thing.. that’s when I came across the fact that MSFS comes with game pass.. I’m at 92 hours on steam now and still.. yet to see a menu.. fed up I refund the game with that explanation. I decided it being a relatively new pc and not too much to lose. (Dcs, pubg and a few other steam games that can seem to get their sh*t together and run fine at a constant 240 fps 1440p..) I clean wiped windows from my pc pulled the pc apart and cleaed everything from dust and started fresh.. only downloading the essentials to run MSFS from Microsoft store-xbox game pass. 22 hour dl and Get to the same loading screen and no dice.. error device hung.. repeated all the basic tricks that I’d found. Put the TdrLevel back in reg edit and still same thing. Stuck but no error. Hours more searching and doing every diagnostic scan for ram, vram, storage. I come across the SU15 beta. So I sign up hoping it’s some version of the msfs install package in downloading is corrupt or somthing. Downloaded the beta in a few hours and hoping it would work. I now get to the end of the blue bar.. and it freezes. I’ve tried all the usuall tricks again and right now it’s been frozen at the same spot for 3 hours..

Things I have tried.
-Restart PC (after every change made)
-Run as Admin (every time)
-logging out/restart/in of all Microsoft store and xbox released software.
-updates all drivers and firmware
-rolledback drivers to recommended in forums (game ready & studio)
-DDU
-updated apps in Microsoft store
-re installing MSFS steam/xbox game pass (Total 5 times)
-verifying files
-updating all Microst store apps (xbox, gaming services ect.)
-run disk check and memory diag tool + 2 or 3 others.

  • no mods or community content in folder
    -clean windows install
-Install MSFS on 980 pro m.2 & tried WD 500gb ssd also
    -turn off xmp
-disable windows defender and real time protection
    -increase page file (virtual memory)
    -tried all power plans
    -debug mode
    -2nd Local user with admin
    -underclock gpu
    -compatibility troubleshooter
-set global graphics to low and frame rate to 60
-disconnecting internet at different periods of launch

And a heap of other things like turning on spacial sound, disconnecting all usb devices on load up.. + heaps more..

I am completely at a loss and as much as want to play this game/sim I’m physically unable.. the game just freezes with about 6-8% cpu usage and 25% memory usage. At this point I’m convinced msfs doesn’t like my system. Sorry for the novel I just wanted to give a rundown of the carnage I’ve endured. I’ll attach a Clean HWinfo screenshot from msfs launch to freeze but have nothing other than that. Any help or info is greatly appreciated!

Stuck on loading screen is a Game Services issue, and nothing to do with your PC setup or MSFS itself.
It’s a pretty quick and painless fix too, but first please reset everything on your PC back to default and then:
Launch the Xbox App (the green icon on your taskbar).
Click on your username in the top left corner.
Click on Support in the drop-down list.
Click the Gaming Services Repair Tool button.
When the repairs have completed, click the Close button.
Launch MSFS - but NOT in Administrator mode, the Marketplace won’t work if you do.
You’ll be back to this again whenever MSFS freezes or crashes, so make a note of it!

Hello,
very frustrating. If I could recommend maybe due repeated horrible reinstalls  there are existed some backup SWs that can backup your complete disk as image and restore in case, it can take 1hr or 2 in case, compared with your horible times. Maybe to have clean OS, other both OS and sim, all depends how much disk space you have available. Try look for that SWs on web.

It would be easier to do:

  1. a clean install of Windows via a USB.
Save any data you want to keep on a backup drive
Note that any Windows apps & data & FS2020 apps and data that you backup
can possibly bring the problem back into your new system.
    Format all Drives.
Install Windows 11 only. No other apps.

  2. Install FS2020.

  3. If FS2020 is okay install any other apps and FS2020 backups.

Have a look at that post:

I uad tried this already but just gave it another go, unfortunalty no change. Thanks anyway i appreciate any help :+1:

Yeah i did try this.. clean install of windows os from fresh usb install. Only windows 11, drivers and msfs. Windows was clean and no sign of any file history. Made sure all microsoft store apps were upto to date. Still no go. Thanks anyway

Then, bad motherboard or CPU memory or SSD or 4090 or power supply.

Just has a look at the file. Ive never had msfs installed before.. never played it.. so i havent downloaded any addons or extra packs. I see a 127.0.0.1 line but it just says localhost next to it and nothing else.. i dont delete that do i? Other than that there is only a ::1 localhost underneath it.

In that case you don’t need to delete anything since there is no active entry. The # at the beginning of each line disable what’s next, it is just used for comments.
Are all your applications in Microsoft store up to date ?

And FS2020 clean install?

Makes sense. Yes all of the MS store apps are upto date. Ive repaired gaming service, xbox app and reset ms store. All no help. The more i look for answers the more i tend to think there is somthing wrong with my system, although everything else runs fine. Tried a benchmark and ran at a stable 640+ fps all setting on ultra 1440p. Done every diagnostic tool i could find. Wondering if my psu is maxing out or mobo is shot. I can try a different pc but is an AMD system so i cant really swap each part individually to find the culprit. Ive tried dl msfs on nvme drive and sata ssd for the same outcome. Been at this almost constanly for 2 weeks trying all different things and im not sure what else is left to try.. also im on starlink internet connection so im not sure if that doesnt agree but i get 300+Mb down and 30ish up

Ive clean isntalled 5 times now.. tried different drives. The last install i tried i upgraded to the SU15 beta just to see if that changed anything bust same outcome..

Will do this to save having to dl again in future thanks..

Have you try to start in safe mode ?
To achieve that, launch MSFS and once you are stuck on the loading screen, terminate the msfs.exe by going to the task manager. Next time you’ll start you’ll get the safe mode option. Maybe you already have done that since I think that once stuck it is the only way to close msfs.

I feel for you.

I had a similar experience a year or so ago.
Tried everything and everything and everything.

Finally, I formatted the drives and started over.
Problem disappeared.

And be careful with a backup.
A backup with a problem will restore that problem.

Yeah its frustrating.. iven already formatted my drives also when i done the OS wipe/reinstall then bought a brand new ssd to test and same thing. All diag tools come back clear. Windows repair. Been through every forum i can find and tried every step meticulously.. run benchmarks that seem to have no issue.. lol guess im just not supposed to be flying

Yep i have had the safe mode/normal mode popup since the first error msg. Tried both unfortunatly.

So i moved installed files back to ssd, then i put the ssd into my old pc (amd rig 3700x & 5700xt, logged into ms store and xbox, downloaded the installer. Opened and pointed install path to ssd and it said it had 500mb to DL. Done that.. loaded perfectly into the menu.. first time id ever seen it.. put the ssd back into my new pc after deleting all other install files and game. Re installed. Pointed install path to ssd.. 7.6gb to dl.. and its stuck downloading looping on packages.. tried wifi and ethernet.. ive limited speeds down to 2mb (didnt have to on old pc) really wierd 2 pc’s sitting next to each other on same wifi swapping the same ssd and one is looping, one is fine.. could it be a mobo issue with net connection?

Hi, maybe a hardware issue? Maybe due to overclocking or maybe bad memory? Maybe a to weak power supply? I found this page when I googled your error code:

Maybe you can change any BIOS setting? Just guessing…
