Stuck on the "Checking for updates" screen

I have emptied the Community folder.
Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

Brief description of the issue:
Stuck on the “Checking for Updates” screen after installing SU5 from Microsoft Store. Allowed over 30 minutes but hasn’t progressed past it, tried restarting twice more and left for over 10 minutes with no progress.

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

1. Start game.
2. Won’t get past the “Installation Manager: Checking for updates” screen.

PC specs for those who want to assist (if not entered in your profile)
Dell XPS 15 7590 with i7-9750H, 32 GB RAM and RTX 2060 on an eGPU which has worked fine for 8 months.
Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:
1.18.14.0
Are you on the Steam or Microsoft Store version?

Checking for Updates Screen - Stuck

Brief description of the issue: via the MS store, updated to 1.15.7, when restarting the game I’m now getting stuck on the Checking For Updates screen. Recently re-installed the whole game, so it’s pretty much a fresh install, ie: There is nothing in the community folder. Any tips? Thx.
