Stutter/FPS drop when panning camera views

Try (if not doing it already):

  1. Switching to DX12 - huge difference in performance stability in my case, compared to DX11.
  2. Enabling VSYNC with a frame limit around 30-40 fps (in game multiplier depends on your screen refresh rate, so 1/2 or 1/3 probably) - gives the game more headroom to do other stuff, like loading textures.

still have the same problem.

it’t the worst when looking down in the cockpit (like on your own seat) and then back out the front window on a big airport. stutters like half a second. and this is on a 4090, 13900k, 64gb ram with just vanilla ultra settings. before su14 this wasn’t as bad as it is now!

if i look side to side it’s not as bad as if i look down and then back up.

I have the same problem after the last update.

Worse I’ve ever seen this. It’s happening with both exterior and interior. I’m considering a fresh install.

Wasn’t a big issue SU13.

We have almost identical specs. I’m running a 5800X3D, RTX 4070. Frame Gen or Off it’s the same results. Stutters and its worse with glass aircraft.

Have you considered a fresh install? I know that’s time consuming. May not fix the issue.

Terrain LOD is the main culprit. After SU14 I can no longer use 200. Have to lower mine to 150-100!

Looks like Asobo has reintroduced the same issue we had in SU12 (I think).

I got stutter almost on every aircraft and scenery same as before and the only fix is to disable the “Bing Data world graphics” in the Data tab (you can leave the rest on)

That solved my stutter issues.

I was having the same issue and deleting the rolling cache and turning it off have solved the problem for me. It was off prior to the update, but it seems like it was on by default after SU14.

So I had the same and took me some time to get it working, I shared the video before but perhaps someone overlooked it.

I don’t know what exact setting made the change but it’s better now, this is with a laptop RTX2060 so I assume most people will manage to get at least the same settings. In the video I briefly go over the settings and what to increase (advise) with better GPU&CPU’s.

At 06:50 notice no stuttering.
I hope this helps some people!

I suggest installing DLSS Swapper.

It allows you to easily load many different versions of the dlss.dll file used by the sim. I first heard about this here, and then watched some YT videos that suggested it. It works with all GPU’s and games (like FS2020) that use that .dll file.

I found that I had been on a 2.xx version, and when I updated to the latest 3.5.10 version, all my camera stutters went away. FPS performance increased as well.
The developer recommends trying several different versions to determine best performance/stability. So far I haven’t had any issues with the latest version.

DX11, DLSS Quality
5800X3D
RTX 3090 Ti

I haven’t tried DX12 yet after the SU14 update. It sounds like I might need to revisit that as well.

Exactly my point of view and issue as well. I am on a RTX 4090 and 7900X3D with 32GB RAM

Sad to hear even a 4090 with a good amount of VRAM doesnt even help

Mee too its exactly how it is in my sim
Running an Ryzen 7 5800X3D and RTX3070TI

No that doesnt help either, also it doesnt even affect performance for me

Doesnt that disable photogrammetry and sattelite textures?

Agreed! 4090 + 13900k still can’t do TLOD >200 at complex airports with traffic and a fenix 320 or ini 310. Sure you can minimize stutters with a TLOD of 100 but to my eyes things look pretty poor. The main issue with TLOD <300 is the ground textures lose their details before you’re high enoug not to notice. I can play TLOD 400 all day long as long as I don’t descend below FL50. Wish they could implement a dynamic TLOD where the slider automcatically increased to 400 where a current powerhouse system can actually handle it and back to 200 on the ground.

My opinion is that people need to realize that FS2020 will never be stutter-free in all aircraft, in all environments, regardless of what hardware you have. The base code is primitive, and thashes CPU performance, unless you decrease CPU-bound graphics options down to the point where you are disappointed by the fidelity.

They simply cannot fix it with a software update - period.

The code has to be rewritten for FS2024. Asking them to fix FS2020 is like asking your arthritic grandpa to dance the Watusi at your wedding. It ain’t happening, no matter how much we wish it.

Yes, but I rather have a bit of world graphics missing then to find myself taking off from London City with my nice BBJ, freeze at 500 feet just to find myself crushing into the O2 15 seconds later

this is the only fix that I have. I have raised this with the support desk and waiting for them to sort it. Apparently they are also aware of a stutter issue if you are working with DX12 enabled.

For me currently the issue seems to be tied to frame gen? Every time I turn it on I get huge game breaking stutters? When I turn it off and use gsync panning is a bit nauseating at complex aiprots with complex planes, but it’s a lot more stable / much less stutters. I’ll have to try different drivers / dfferent DLSS version? This just started happening with SU14

Hm, I only using a 3060 Ti card, so I dont know much about Fram Generation. But I do find that I get worse stutter if:

  • I use Reflex or Reflex + Boost (with vsync on or off)
  • When using Vsync ON (does not matter which refresh rate thats set)
  • “Just occationally” (could get dampened by syncing the windows clock with timeservers)

Welp, I dunno what to tell you. These are with Anti-aliasing set to TAA. Using DLSS Quality, add in another 5-7 fps, generally.
