Stutters on ground while taxiing and taking off, same as SU8

Ever since Saturday last week, I started experiencing stutters that makes the game unplayable to me.

Just as you pointed out, my stutters are happening both in the menu and in-game.

I’ve tried cutting off the internet and that did nothing for me.

I really don’t know what’s going on. The game was working fine on Friday, then Saturday comes and it becomes unplayable.

I’ve tried clearing out my community folder and that didn’t help.

I’ve also tried looking for new Windows updates and my PC is completely up to date.

I really don’t know what else I should do to be able to play again.

Thats kind of normal, ISPs mostly have software to periodically tune their bandwidth requirements and if you’re not there it gets added back into the pool.

I just got a Microsoft Defender update and everything is back to smooth now.

Interestingly enough, on Saturday (the day the stutters started), my computer had automatically updated Microsoft Defender before I launched MSFS for the first time in that day.

Just this minute found out what really has been causing my stutters. Ive been blaming my router, so I switched to my old Apple Airport Extreme and haven’t been having any problems until today, when I re-connected my printer to my router via WiFi. As soon as I did that, same stutters every 72 seconds. Switched my printer off, stutters gone. So it’s a communication issue between my printer and my router which is causing interferance.

has nothing to do with router or internet, it’s probably a coincidence. I have tried with and without router and internet and nothing helps. this is a scenery issue. i noticed if i remove all of the scenery the stuttering is much less prominent. SU10 also has the same problem. i even tried upgrading to windows 11 and didn’t help.

Have you tried disconnecting or switching your printer off to see if that helps?
I had to change some network settings in my Antivrus software regarding my HP printer and all seems fine now.

It seems the regular white circle appearance (with stutters every few seconds) is finally gone with SU10. No more switching to dev mode needed.

Still have to check, if the approach stutters (appearing on some airports / regions) are gone too.

There are so many reasons for stutter. It always helps much more if you show the statistics window of the dev mode.

There have been 2 major issues for the most ppl. Vram and photogrammetry. The PG issue has been fixed in SU10.

If you still get it on ground, check your vram.

PS: the circle appearing is another issue again. That had to do with the logging and switching devmode turns it off

Hi having exactly the same issue driving me nuts. Is it literally as simple as turning the printer off or should I uninstall the HP app have tried absolutely everything else.

For me the overall performance was massively improved with SU11. I can now play almost stutter-free and with stable 32 fps all the time.

Only exception for me are very large airports like KDFW (Dallas Intl.) where it feels very much like half a year ago with < 10 fps and very hard landing due to lagging and freezes. If they manage to improve those as well it would be absolutely awesome!!

I have stutters only on touchdown or short before, no matter if it is a regional or major airport. And no matter if it is a 3th part or not. In this critical phase of the flight it drives me crazy. Never had this is earlier SU’s.

Stutters while taxiing/on the takeoff/landing roll are now back with SU11. SU10 seemed to have solved it for me, but it looks like there’s been a regression. Even turning off PG doesn’t really help.

Try switching of your printer first to kill any connection with your computer. If it’s connected with a network cable, also remove that. Then see if there is any improvement. That way you can at least check and see if its printer related.

Yea literally turned it off and it’s now working without any stuttering thank you soo much. Wow what a complete pain that was spent days trying to sort.

Heavy stuttering at KSEA with 13700K with LOD 200 everything else on Ultra and Road traffic to 100% with AI traffic and Multiplayer traffic.

Usually the sim is reasonably smooth to me. I suspect the heavy AI traffic and also Multiplayer traffic as culprit, maybe road vehicles to a lesser extent.

I think Asobo should optimize for better CPU utilization as during the stutters CPU usage was still just 42%.

GPU is 6800XT

Same here, i dont know…

This constant pattern of fluid, patch, stutter, fluid, patch, stutter was the reason i left P3D. Now its here too.
And yes, I’m someone who does updates by guide (rename comm folder etc).

It was perfect, you fixed the photogrammetry issues when more than a handful of cities are installed. You fixed the stutters on ground, improved Vram usage by some small margin, you fixed many things but somehow one still ends up with more or less the same problems after a while, it seems.

Since latest patches the sim goes into 10 fps on arrivals. With 120 LOD. Before I had 150 and fly everywhere in the world, even on airports like Fly Tampa KLAS or whatever big, KSEA with photogrammetry, KLAX, with locked 30 fps. Counter didn’t budge.

Now the whole sim stops for seconds sometimes. Even mid flight I saw this happen but it may catch itself again. But it’s constant low on arrival at least, the departure is ok most of the time. I’ve tried 4 airports, from empty regions like Alaska or Iran over Germany, Italy and whatnot. On every single arrival the sim went into what feels like single digits and major stutters on arrival and on ground.

Seems it’s getting slower and slower over time. We had this one again.
And it doesn’t seem to reflect in the fps counter for whatever reason. It’s showing still somewhat normal.

No road traffic, no airport vehicles, no multiplayer or whatever along the lines is active.

Edit:

What I’ve noticed, i can force this stutter already on the world map… When I zoom in close to ground, anywhere in the world, everything starts to stutter in a same way like the sim on ground or arrival. Movement stops for seconds and it’s impossible to move the map with the mouse anymore. Zooming out and it works again.

Im not in devmode, I’ve tried it without anything running.

Another thng ive noticed is that when this is happening, the arrival airports builds up LOD with every stutter. So everytime it stutters, one can see the LOD of objects change a step (or more).

a little note:

I can not report more stutters, but that freeze some times I also noticed since SU11. It happens some times and just everywhere : MSFS completely stops for some seconds. You have too wait and must be ready to steer the airplane ( hard in special for helicopters ). No mods, etc…

Update Jan.'23: since a while now, these “rare full stops” never again happend at my system.

Also having major microstuttering since the latest patch, really hoping that Asobo will take this seriously

I too am experiencing horrible performance. In the SU10 I had a full hd 60hz monitor, vsync turned on at 50% and everything was smooth, super smooth. With the advent of su11 I got a non-gsync 27 inch WQHD monitor, but I’m having problems especially on the ground. I am always limited by my cpu (i7 10700K) (Rtx360Ti) (32gbram) and i play on ssd. I’ve tried everything, turning off vsync, turning it on, limiting it to 100,50,33%, but nothing. On the ground I have annoying micro shots and fps drops. The lods are set at 100, rendering at 100, I also tried setting the sim all low but nothing, on the ground in large airports (rarely in the medium ones) the problem persists. I cleared the rolling cache, tried everything including reinstalling the sim. And nothing, I always have shots! Is this a common bug or is it my problem? Could it be the monitor is not gsync? I’m not understanding anything anymore, I’ve been banging it for weeks, I’ve tried everything, even putting dlss etc, changing the monitor resolution from 165 to 120,100,85,60 but nothing. Help me, is it the sim side problem or mine?
