SU 15 (DX12) - Becomes unplayable(stutters) during final approach, landing, after landing

Okay… so after posting my issue and reading a couple of posts on the forums, I have come to the conclusion that there really is something broken with the game after SU15. So I’m posting this in the bugs section.

I’ve decided to create another post because my other post here was getting quite long. SU15 DX12 Really bad stutters, unplayable (tested at RJTT Tokyo Haneda)

My specs:

  • 5800X3D
  • RTX 3080 10GB
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1440p Monitor
  • Frame gen mod is on

My graphics settings will be at the end of each video posted below.

So, long story short here’s what’s happening:

The ff. happens after a prolonged flight

  • Start of the flight until final approach is very smooth
  • Some stutters during final approach
  • A few hundred feet just before landing, the game literally becomes unplayable
  • This continues after landing, even after the runway has been vacated
  • Sometimes the FPS does recover, but then drops again
  • Switching cameras from inside to outside drops the FPS
  • Didn’t happen before SU15
  • Only happens with DX12

Here’s what I’ve tried but nothing has changed

  • Clearing my caches
  • Lowering the settings. My performance is smoother, but stutters during final approach and landing.
  • Remove AI traffic (FSLTL). This helps, but removing AI traffic kills the immersion for me, so I want to leave it on
  • Reduce my settings on FSLTL
  • Tried using DLSS. Performance improved, but after a while, switching from inside to outside view gives the same result.
  • Reinstall Fenix A320
  • Reinstall MSFS
  • Upgrade my RAM to 32gb
  • Repasted my GPU because I had a 98c hotspot. It might have been a factor. Now that I’ve repasted it, clearly it was not.
  • Takeoff / Land at smaller airports. Obviously this is going to perform well. But I’m not landing at small airports 100% of the time.

The video below was taken when I had 16gb RAM and higher settings.

So naturally I upgraded my RAM and lowered my texture resolution to avoid capping my VRAM and I still get an unplayable sim after a prolonged flight. This time, I’m not even reaching my RAM and VRAM limitations.

I couldn’t get footage of the approach and landing because I thought I’d fixed the problem by lowering my VRAM usage, but the problem is still there.

At this point, I’m not sure what’s causing this but something must have broken after the update. As I’ve said, this didn’t happen before the SU15. I’ve heard some people say that build 1.37.18.0 was pretty stable, but 1.37.19.0 broke it. I can only take their word for it since I wasn’t part of the SU15 beta.

what scenery for tokyo do you have im not getting the same PG that you get in the area of the docks, at about 2;15

With DX11 exactly the same thing happens to me when I go to land but much more noticeable and sometimes unbearable with the Fenix, a little less with PMDG and even with the Asobo 787 and 747.
My graphics setting was 3840x2160 in high quality and I had to go down to Ultra 2560x1440 with some modifications for clouds, buildings, objects and vegetation but the improvement has not been significant.
Only with the Fenix from V2 I immediately lost 15 to 20 FPS just by appearing at the gate.

However the 2nd video is SNJSim Fukuoka with custom photogrammetry from flightsim.to

I did some touch and goes at haneda with these sceneries, and performance seems fine. Will try prolonged flights next. I’ll try landing at smaller, less intense airports next.

Can you show FlightSimulator.exe file memory usage next time you do a test please? I am not expert but maybe somethings happening with intense .exe file memory usage. Example below is around 37gb. Maybe someone who understand these things can explain why this is happening.

For me smaller airports are pretty smooth, I tried the A300 into WBKK by secret studios (40 - 45 FPS), BAE 146 into Christchurch (25-30 FPS) and they were pretty good. 5800x3d and etc 4090, I know 4090 is not even close to 3080 but I was running 4k ultra without dlss upscaling or frame gen. But the flights were not too long. Max 2 hours. But I also had FSLTL running. So that takes up some cpu performance too.

UPDATE: I’ve found something in the developer console. It looks like there’s an infinite loop happening. I’m not sure if it’s just with the Fenix, or if it’s happening with other aircraft. I’ll be testing this further soon.

Those numbers on the far right side are the “occurrences”, meaning the number of times that the error is occurring. It’s rising up infinitely, leading me to believe that there’s an infinite loop going on and it’s flooding my system.

I might have to report this to Fenix once I’ve confirmed my hunch.

I experience the same with IniBuilds A320 V2 - a flight starts more or less OK (except if there are problems with the scenery, like a broken STAR - if I select in the MCDU any STAR in such a scenery my FPS drops 50% immediately and stutters start). On the final (even at a default airport like KATL) starts the nightmare, and at a gates FPS drops to 1-2. (my system is an old one with GTX970). This kind of stuttering started with SU15.
