Tried with plain vanilla, all traffic off, C152 and Im still having 1 sec freezes on approach, sometimes also shortly after takeoff. Must be something related to airport loading/unloading. That’s awful. RTX4080S here.
What airport was you flying out of just out of curiosity?
With me not all airports are affected , however I am getting stuttering on cruise and descent and LPFR (Faro) is very stuttering on landing and roll out , taxiing , which is an Asobo airport created by Gaya simulations which was a free update with a world update some time back,
Never had the issue with that updated airport prior to SU15.
My test airport is usually Venice LIPZ. With and without the paid addon I have stutters on approach and a couple of miles after takeoff.
I have noticed some improvements / was able to improve the situation related to screen stuttering somewhat. I would like to share that here.
First of all I have to say that I always fly in the sim with airliners. Boeing 737 Max (purchased via Market Place) and Airbus A320 Neo.
Because some people indicate that they have no problems, I wonder if they perhaps only fly smaller propeller planes. I now tried to fly a Cessna, which of course flies very slowly compared to airliners. The scenes need to be loaded much less quickly. With the Cessna I have almost no problems.
Perhaps Asobo has made some adjustments to this problem in the latest updates, but it could also be due to the fact that I have made the following adjustments myself.
Below I explain the steps I have taken to make my SIM a lot smoother and stutter less. With lateral movements the screen still vibrates (but much less) and fps is still very low.
It is not yet completely as it was in the past, unfortunately, but it has improved in this way.
I don’t know if everyone with these problems has an RTX graphics card. I have an RTX 4070.
NB!
First of all, it involves a CLEAN INSTALLATION of the graphics driver! And then OPTIMIZATION of FS2020 by Geforce Experience. As I have read a lot on this forum in the past and have also discovered myself, reducing all kinds of settings often gave better performance. I have now thrown this overboard and left everything to Geforce Experience. Maybe I’ll come back to it later but for now it’s much better than it was.
These are the steps I took:
Start the Geforce Experience program.
Go to “Drivers.” (second from the left in the bar at the top of the screen)
Click (top right) Check for updates.
Hopefully you haven’t installed the latest update yet (Then you’ll have to wait until the next update which usually comes once or twice a month)
Choose “Custom installation". There you will find a checkbox to choose a clean installation.
" Windows will notify you whether you want to allow changes to be made to your PC.
Click “Yes”.
Make sure you check the checkbox that says you want a clean installation. This will clear any previous changes made by yourself or perhaps by FS2020.
Click “Install”.
Then the computer restarts.
After the restart of your PC restart the Geforce experience program.
Go to Home. (Top left in the bar)
Click on Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Click OPTIMIZE.(Right center)
Let the program do the optimization.
Restart the computer. *So don’t yust shut it down and turn it back on. *
You really need to Restart the computer.
Then start FS2020 and try it out. It helped me make some improvements.
I’m curious about the experiences of others.
Since SU15 I’m getting stutters on approach/landing at every single airport. Never had this issue at all in the previous SU. Updated to the latest Game-ready Nvidia drivers and still no dice.
Getting a bit fed up of it.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
Yes

This is clearly a LOD bug as we are experiencing the stutters from a closing proximity to ground objects (i.e. on approach / landing).

extra… I believe this is about traffic LODs loading, all this story for me started when Asobo introduced their latest rework of AI traffic with better model matching. In my case stutters start even if I overfly the airport with working traffic at 39000 feet - FPS drops from 60 to 15. On approach/landing it drops to 1. If I set Object details LOD to 200, I can provoke the sim to stutter earlier than on round-out / touching/down, but by the coast of max FPS. I do not know, nay be the sim injects too many AI planes, or does not clean out obsolete ones - of I load at, let us say, KJFK, and just make one flight to/from this airport - it stutters from 30 to 8-12-15 and if I take a 2h flight it stutters to 1 on landing

I need to test this more, but I’ve found that my last three approaches have been stutter-free as soon as I disabled and deleted the rolling cache completely. Has anybody else tried this too?
I know that not having the rolling cache isn’t ideal for some. I too, would prefer to extend the write-life of my disk by not having to re-download the same scenery for regular locations over and over, but it is what it is… .
I haven’t used rolling cache since 2021 days. It’s pointless. Most say to keep it off.
THat said, my approach stutters have improved, but today (Sunday) I’m getting micro-pause/micro-stutters every minute or 2 minutes or so. I also use the Tobii Eye Tracker as well and I’ve read a lot of users using eye tracking are having these annoying microstutters too. Wish Tobii/Asobo could figure it out as it used to work flawlessly.
That’s unfortunate. I’ve never seen a gaming engine drop fps so much the moment you start “looking around”, even gently, quite like this one…
Am I right in thinking that rolling-cache ON means the downloaded imagery gets written to disk, and rolling-cache OFF means it gets pre-loaded to RAM only, or does it still get written to disk temporarily? If there is minimal disk-writing, I think I might keep it off permanently too.
