SU 3: Flickering Trees (DLSS) and Heavy Performance

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

  • SU 3 Beta, performance is the worst so far.

  • Fps drop anomaly reoccurrs, which never recovers until restarting the sim or switching global setting to Low End and switching back to custom. In SU 2, it is almost non existent.

  • Flickering trees when using DLSS, and FSR, not in TAA though.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?

No. When I switched back to SU 2 public, it went back to normal. Smooth and stable

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Use DLSS
  2. Start from Pondok Cabe Airport.
  3. Use R66 or the Bell 407
  4. Use DLSS 1.310.0

I am using Lossless Scaling, but it works very well over the years (MSFS 2020 & 2024).

My setting is mostly high. Texture Resolution is LOW. Airport traffic and air traffic is OFF.

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:

Nvidia, the latest (May 17 2025 via Nvidia App), Game Ready

Note:

SU 2 is a lot better overall.

Hi, could you kindly share screenshot(s) of your graphics settings? I set my global rendering quality to high, texture resolution low, with DLSS at WIHP (Pondok Cabe) and did not experience the same thing:

Actually, I just saw this bug report, below. Does the bug report sound similar to what you have?

I see this too with SU3 beta, but it only happens in foggy conditions.

I can confirm that the flickering is no longer there even with DLSS. Not only Pondok Cabe but also in other areas with many trees. I tried to reproduce (spawning in surrounding areas like Halim Intl which used to suffer the flickering) and no avail.

I will try to set foggy weather and see what happens (per the above post suggestion)

If your bug report does look like this one, then you’re in luck because it’s already in the bug tracker and somebody’s looking into it.

Hello. Thank you for following up this thread. I just tried to reproduce the flickering tree bug. @TranquilitySea is correct. It does occurr during foggy conditions. It does not however on clear skies/few clouds/scattered or such.

Looks like this issue is fixed in 1.5.3.0. Can anyone confirm?

yes I checked I don’t see any strange artifacts around the trees anymore… with low clouds and at sunset no problem… thanks Asobo!
