Couldn’t agree more. All these recent Sim Updates that were supposed to fix bugs didn’t actually fix any bugs just added more. Even bugs that were listed fixed like “Mouse Cursor” was not fixed at all or “Shutdown to Cold and Dark” fixed which wasn’t fixed and still mem leaks and kills FPS and in fact now when the application loses focus and you switch back to the app the system cursor and hardware cursor now fight each other.
Much like the gamepad and mouse cursor issues I reported decades ago that were never fixed at all they now have issues with the sim and Windows itself lol. It seems they did update the Windows Malware detector but wow what a mess. Whoever is managing updating the sim is just making a colossal mess of things. Everyone enjoying the new launcher and hidden folders on the boot drive?
What we need are the actual fixes fixed and NO NEW CONTENT added just FIXES. This Maverick DLC was the nail in the coffin for me. I have not installed it and every time I have dropped back into public multiplayer the skies are just full of Dark and FA18. No desire to even fly online anymore.
I lost that desire a long time ago. Its why I want really good live traffic. Flying with people who know what they are doing rather than people, some of whom are just larking about (yes I am looking at the sort who used to fly Balloons in FSX at 130 knots) is a far more enjoyable experience.
What does this do? Isn’t that only to be able to increase resolution without loss of fps? Will that really help increase terrain-lod and stop the stuttering near ground? I don’t think so. The cpu load at ground is the problem not the need to increase resolution. Improvement to multithreading would increase performance in this sim or fixing the issue with stutters near ground that i think is a bug in caching rather than something that needs to be optimised by Asobo. Could be both but if they optimise we will complain about downgrades in graphics again.
It will help a lot because it is a feature that requires DX12, which in consequence provides better threadhandling on the CPU.
And no, DLSS is not only used to “increase resolution without loss of fps”, you can rather compare it to the builtin “Renderscaling” feature just without the “pixel smearing” on lower scales than 100%.
Just imagine you can have the fidelity of 100% renderscale (due to AI enhanced rendering, which improves the native image quality even more, it might be even be compared to 110-120% renderscale) but the performance gains of renderscales of about 60-70%.
It’s an insane technology that grants you a massive boost of performance for free. It was mainly developed to mitigate the performance impact of raytracing effects.
I hope so too and i can only speak from my experience with plenty of other games that support DLSS. But when you enable it in let’s say “balanced” mode (it normally comes with different sets like “quality”, “balanced”, “performance”, etc. which just changes the internal reference resolution used to render the picture) you will notice a 60-80% increase of performance if all other graphic settings are left untouched.
The only hardware requirement for DLSS is to have a RTX2xxx card or higher, since it was introduced with the RTX (raytracing technology) family back in 2018.
If you have a Nvidia GTX card or even an AMD graphics cards, you will not be able to use this feature.
There exists a free alternative from AMD, which is still under developement called “FSR” (FidelityFX Super Resolution). It tries to do basically the same, but without the use of AI technology. But on the positive side, AMDs feature will be made available to everyone without limiting it to their own cards, because it does not require tensor cores on the GPU.
Not sure if this feature will also be implemented in the flight sim though.
OK, well with DLSS your 80 render scaling will look like 100. I don’t get your point? The fact that you don’t run at 100 means this will also help you.
Anybody on VR, or anyone with a weaker GPU at 4k will be GPU limited as well.
It’s pretty much falling on deaf ears. It seems to me that they have this strict list of ‘stuff to fix’ and only when enough people complain (after release) or a major bug happens we might see a hotfix.
There is something wrong with either getting reported issues to the devs or it is simply ignored.
Sometimes when watching the Q&A’s they seem to not have a clue what (sometimes very obvious) problems there are.
In my opinion the patches are too big for such complicated program. And having 35 branches doesn’t make things easier either.
I don’t understand, you are saying you are against being able to run in higher resolution. Because you’d rather turn up the LOD. Then you can lower the DLSS quality to get same output quality as your 80 now, and free up GPU resources. This may or may not help you turn up terrain LOD.
I get it, you don’t care about this. For you it’s this one thing they should fix, but for a lot of us, especially in VR or those on not the top end GPUs, DLSS/FSR will help a ton.
But i thought the most users wanted to increase performance on ground. Not only me. Well, i don’t even request higher performance because i know it will lead to more complains about graphics and stuff. I only say that dlss might not improve performance on ground
I will promise you, if you buy a pony you will get a pony.
And you should be able to complain if you get a broken pony.
Anyway, DLSS is great for decreasing the load on the GPU.
MSFS is however sadly a CPU-killer, for now. DX12 on the other hand should in theory help with that too.
Guys, I’m not saying don’t complain, heck I complain a ton myself. I’m not saying don’t fix the stuttering on the ground. It should be fixed.
I’m just trying to explain why DLSS/FSR will also help certain use case scenarios, and I predict it will help a lot, even if for your specific case/setup maybe it doesn’t.
