SU11 DLSS vs FSR vs TAA - RTX2080 to RTX3090 upgrade

Looks like DX12 is only meant for graphic card with 12GB VRAM or more.

I’ll stick with DX11 for now.

Yes pretty much its like that in many other DX12 games and it will be worse with a flight sim. I am not expecting it to improve even when its out of Beta. Better off running most settings on high instead of ultra.

I did a short flight earlier and even TAA or DLSS DX11 my 30380 Ti was pretty much using all 12GB with settings at Ultra. It does seem that SU11 does use more VRAM.

Are you on 4K? I have most of my settings set to high since I only have 8gb. Seriously though the 3080ti should have had 16gb!

Turn hardware accelerated graphics (hags) on restart computer and sim and see if it changes
Specially on memory usage for it uses shared memory which allow u more than your graphicscard has onboard

I only have 1440 and the 3080 TI does only have 12GB. I only have it fill up around large photogrammetry cities. Like New York and Chicago which are the only two that I have flown since the sim. Flying over open country barely uses half, it that.

I don’t recall using this much memory in SU10. But things looks great. So, I can really complain.

The one thing that I have noticed is that now when you look to the left or right from within the cockpit it does a more realistic turn to the right or left where before it was kinda of an instant view. I prefered the old way. This change was probably a user requested to make things more realistic.

I have 128GB of Motherboard RAM and the video card can use 1/2 of it, but that RAM is much slower, so I’m sure I will notice some stutters if it uses it.

yes this is 4K but obviously when you use DLSS it’s usually rendered at much lower resolutions (1440p for Quality DLSS). I’m only seeing 6/8Gb of VRAM usage with 2080S. It’s not using any of my 32GB RAM. unused VRAM or memory is wasted memory. I just installed a 3090 24GB and will post the difference in results soon. i want to be able to play TAA 4K smoothly which the 2080 cannot do. In terms of turns it’s pretty smooth for me with 2080s. The a310 is a bit slow and laggy but i’m sure that will be figured out soon by the devs.

Here are some screenshots with the ASUS TUF RTX3090. I undervolted the GPU to 1875MHz at 850mV. I also included screenshots of core temp, since interestingly MSFS claims main thread limitations. However the CPU load is still fairly low. Make what you want of it, but I’m not impressed with such a big upgrade. Also I’m not so sure upgrading the CPU will help by much given the CPU is not really under too much stress. However I’m planning for a 5800X3D upgrade.







AMD FSR2 saw the biggest improvement with the RTX3090 upgrade, nearly 80 FPS over Manhattan. This suggest AMD FSR2 issues with RTX 2080 drivers.
