SU2 Beta General Feedback

I have found that by default a lot of the gps units have defaulted to manual brightness you can fix this by going into the setup for the gps unit and changing the setup from manual to photocell and this fixes a lot of this problem

Hmm. Not getting any micro stutters here. The only time I ever see anything that looks like that is when the camera sweeps in behind the plane as you spawn in, and I can see that’s because it’s having to stream in all the assets visible at the higher LOD level required. This stuttering is practically eliminated if you spawn in at more bare bones bush strips, but is worse at busier airports.

If I only get that I’m happy with it.

Exactly the same for me. Other than that butter smooth all over, still some smallish issues but I’m rather happy with the current state.

You also have to take into account that people are keen to see some positive developments and that beta its perhaps a quicker route to that glimpse of brighteness at the end of the tunnel. We should not been in need for so many patches and fixes if the code would have been fit for realease in the first place. Either way the sim particularly in vr can be a slide show at times with plenty of stuttering and rubber banding.
and yes I have invested in a 5090 as well

Xbox just needs the ground textures sharpened up a bit (a lot) and the ability to get rid of static aircraft and I’m sure it will be wonderful, as long as you have a mouse at least

Please don’t release SU2 now.

SU1 still provides a better performance for me. If they release it, there better be an option to not update and stay on SU1.

Most definitely not “fixed” at all. I wish Asobo would listen to us about some of these annoying “artistic” design decisions, if that’s what it is, or confirm it to be a bug.

Had a couple of CTD this weekend
very unusual for me at least. I usually get WASM crashes which aggrevates the living F out of me because you’re 2 hours in to a flight and all of a sudden, controls are dead. Wtf? I was flying the Baron G58 last night
 an hour into a flight
KACY to KTEB, crash to desktop. Latest beta.

Something very odd is going on today.

Out of nowhere I’ve just had the ‘GPU resources message’ because the game had hit the 24GB VRAM limit on my 4090. It was also using over 40GB of system RAM.

What gives?!

I reported earlier that my VR with Somnium VR1 ended always with CTD, whenever I switched to VR. I found now, when I enable Frame with DLSS, it crashes, when I fly with FG off, I get 30 - 40 Fps. And fly like a charme. Even with VR setting to Medium.
RTX 3090, 24 GB VRAM, 64 GB RAM, beta2 .18. with OpenXR and VR1.

Wow, never had that with my 3090.

I think it might be very specific weirdly.

It’s repeatable if I load into stand 13 of 14 at IniBuilds EGNM with the Fenix A321 (haven’t tried other variants). VRAM goes over 24GB (generating the message) then slowly comes down to about 17-20GB which is where it tends to sit with my settings. I then took the same aircraft and loaded into Macco Sim’s EGCC and it was fine.

Very very odd indeed.

lul you’ve had that 3090 card since i was a kid :joy::rofl:

I dont’t thinks It’s work like that :joy:

Going from TLOD of 300 to 150 is a significant visual deterioration. I would not have bought a new rig if I was to fly the Sim with the setting I have on my old PC. It just seems like the Sim is not optimized and the CPUs are not able to handle loads nearly as much as new GPUs. So that will have to be addressed either way

CTD every. single. flight. Xbox Series X

After i change graphic settings from DLSS to TAA i get constant stutters making the sim unplayable.

After finally figuring things out, got it running perfectly. TLOD 350, OLOD 200, 4k @ 120hz. Word to the wise, do not use the NVIDIA app or Nividia control panel to lock your FPS in the simulator. It locks it to what you put and renders FG useless. Do it in sim with the frame rate limiter.
