I have noticed this too. Immediately after take off, after turning on the autopilot in the Longitude, and changing heading via the heading knob, the Longitude turns the opposite direction well past the bank angle the autopilot should be programmed to and seems to want to go inverted. Definitely not popular with my passengers. Not sure what’s going on here.
I don’t expect it be resolved in 5.x, but the main thing I would like to see addressed in SU6 is the stutter once you pass about 100ft above the ground on approach into an airport. It’s brief, but noticeable. I presume it’s related to ground scenery loading in.
Anyone know if there will be another beta release to further make the sim perform how it was in SU4?
I would like to remind you, that serious security issues have been found in recent nVidia drivers. So you should update at least to
- 539.72
- 582.53
- 596.36
in the specific series.
Maybe SU6? ![]()
Have not heard of any new BETA releases on the horizon but you never know.
Based on dev forum discussions, I’m fairly certain a new Beta will precede any formal release.
If they would release the results on their recent polls, we would have a better idea on where SU5 stands.
Sim Update 5.1 Beta (1.7.28.0) Stability and Avionics Surveys results are visible. Wish all other poll results were too…
View distance on the ground is minimal, so of course low LOD is perfectly acceptable. It’s when you gain altitude that higher LOD numbers become desirable - even necessary.
The Dynamic LOD option needs to be much more granular, and offer far more user control. The simple On/Off switch we have is pretty useless.
It can be done, and frankly, I don’t understand why it hasn’t been implemented yet, except that it’s obviously easier to simply limit LOD curves (and other things I admit to not understanding) globally in order to ease the amount of data being computed…with consequences that negatively affect those of us with high-end systems.
I noticed that the TCAS doesn’t show the planes in the MFD, at least in the PMDG 737. I’m sure it worked fine before. Another strange thing I noticed was with the weather radar (so far seen on Fenix), basically the left MFD displayed the weather radar correctly, while the right MFD displayed something else, or at least not what the left one displayed, a very strange thing.
Woke up this morning to terrible stutters. After the usual troubleshooting, I left the Beta. I checked for updates in the Store, and it downloaded 9.1GB. I launched the game, and the “Your Game Needs an Update” dialog appeared. It downloaded 9.1GB. Then the dialog disappeared for a moment, but it came right back and downloaded 9.1GB again. Then it launched.
So today I finally had a half-decent flight in SU5.1, LEBL to LSGG.
I steered clear of the 100+ aircraft in the Aviator version of the sim, instead using the excellent freeware A320neo from FBW. (I do find it astonishing that despite all the bells and whistles it has, this aircraft performs significantly better than the lower level default Daher TBM930, for example.)
Following problems I’ve recently had with the EFB, I avoided this and instead used the free Simbrief to set up the flight plan.
Maybe it’s only a coincidence I got an improved flight by going third party as much as possible . . . . or maybe it isn’t?
Actually, the only problem on the flight was (the default) ATC, for example telling me to ascend to 39000ft just as I was approaching the final stages of landing. Perhaps I should have used a third party for that as well.
I have had the exact same issue in the past. What I found that worked for me is, after leaving the beta, sign out of the Xbox app then reboot your system. When you next launch the game it will first ask you to sign back in to Xbox, then starts the update and launches the game. Since using this method I have not had issues of repeated downloads.
Seedy said so yes
Why would anyone want a poorer performing sim without the 100’s of updates released in SU5? I’m sure they will get to fixing how the sim interacts with your hardware/software/streaming configuration soon enough.
Concur with your comments on the FBW A320 Neo. Did a short hop from YSSY to YWLM late afternoon in showery weather; IFR flight. Used Simbrief to program the MCDU and sent the generated plan to ATC via the EFB. ATC taxi and takeoff worked fine until departure then ATC became “lost” working a completely different Flight plan to that which was programmed. FBW autopilot performed the approach and autoland ILS 12 perfectly while ATC at YWLM was not working.
This ‘post beta beta’ seems to be taking a long time…
The A330 on Playstation 5, base version, still getting memory resources error, the other jetliners for me so far not getting the message. Am in the latest Beta build for ps5
To put it simply, it worked, SU5 don’t. I can live without the 100’s of updates released in SU5 just so it can be played.
