Suggesting to turn off the lightening in Live Weather until the root cause is found

The weather popping in REX for FS2020 reminds me of the old FSX days.

It sounded like an easy fix but it’s been listed as under investigation for a time and now as backlogged.

I will say compared to when it was first released the lightning bolt graphics look 100% better than those original cartoon representations, as annoying as they are now.

You’re right there - The effects are awesome and when they get the occurrence tuned correctly (and I’m sure they will) this will be one of the ‘wow’ effects in the sim.

I also suspect the effect is a product of the complex weather engine and probably more difficult to tweak than we think …

Once they get this ironed out I can’t wait to experience that in VR with the new G2!

Hahaha yes … I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of mine too

While on the subject of lightning, has anyone actually seen within the sim while flying a cloud to ground strike? All I’ve encountered as I recall is cloud to cloud lightning.

With the sim being so young yet and the graphical improvement related to this that Asobo accomplished in such a short time no doubt over the years this will even get better especially with the freeware side once people get tinkering with enhancing graphics, The amount of freeware available just grows by leaps and bounds each week ( my “go-to” is flightsim.to).

Would be pretty cool to see a biolt develop out in front of a cloud only to further develop strands that streak overhead of your canopy all the whole lighting he cockpit up and then jarring your teeth!

Just some minor ramblings. It’s 4:30am. What the hey…I could be flying!

I disagree with the OP that it’s “game breaking”, but just like the Horizon Line Bug it is extremely immersion breaking and just looks plain wrong.

Be good if Asobo got a handle on the blatant issues.

This is solved by the technical update just released by REX. Now it has a smooth transition method as well as the instant popping method.

Cheers

It looks like you are experiencing less of this.

My past 5 flights are all plagued with constant lightening and the thunder sound none stop every 30 or so seconds. It becomes game breaking and unplayable very fast when you are in that situation.

I’ve actually experienced a lot thanks
