Synaptic Simulations - A220

Still waiting for waypoint and destination ETAs and fuel predictions to be correct.

Something so basic should not be bugged in an addon of this price.

Interesting. I have not paid close attention to the fuel predictions – will in the future – but have found both the waypoint and destination ETAs to be pretty accurate. Maybe off 5-10 minutes on a 3.75 hour flight. Not sure if it helps but I do enter the avg wind information for each stage of flight.

Yeah look here for example.

Here you can see the TOD is only 319 nm away, and we have a ground speed of 517 KT, so it should take about 40 mins to the TOD, but the aircraft is predicting it will be there at 0607 which is 1hr and 20 mins away…

But, the speed will drop significantly once you hit the star /approach and drop below 10k ft. Not like that is anywhere close to the ground speed all the way to the destination. Would make for a fun landing.

Did another flight tonight (LGA to ATL) and it was almost spot on.

Yes, it’s getting ridiculous now. Xbox users still can’t use this addon.

No, the calculation I was using in this example, is the distance to TOD. So the speed would have been the same to that point.

You can even see the predicted time to the next waypoint is just often not correct.

Can anyone explain what the ELT switch is for please. I just had a ELT ON caution and thought at first it was referring to the emergency lights which of course it wasn’t. I then found the ELT switch and turned it to test/reset then back to auto. This cleared the caution. However I have no idea what I did or what the caution was all about, never had it before. I did a google search but couldn’t find anything that made any sense. Thanks.

An ELT is a ā€˜Emergency Location Transmitter’ - basically should switch on automatically following a crash!

Ahh it makes sense now thanks. I didn’t crash but during my pushback that I initiated with sayintentions. The aircraft started to oscillate quite violently, I have no idea why. I terminated my pushback and then everything continued as normal except for the ELT. Must have been something to do with that. Thanks.

That definitely makes it harder to explain. Not flying today will be look more closely during my next flight.

Yeah. Just some kind of bug.

Even in the ground before departing, the estimated time of arrival is a long way off.

We haven’t had any of the most recent updates on MP… will have another check later on today but we were still on 1.0.9 at 11pm UK time yesterday…

Yea I was told there’s a problem with mp wasm updates. the 380 is in the same boat. Hopefully tonight :crossed_fingers:t2:.

Mp updates usually hit around 17.00 to 17.30 UTC

Heads up for the fellow Marketplace users, 1.0.10 is out.

Just tried it again. It’s marginally better but still a slideshow once in the air. Think it’s time to let it gather dust in the hangar now, it’s a lost cause unfortunately.

That is extremely disappointing.

I’m super bummed to read that this is your experience with 1.0.10, wish it was better. So far on my Series X, the A220 is behaving properly and on a level performance-wise where I’m actively starting to enjoy the flights.

Yes, I’m still living with caveats. I switch off both EFBs after takeoff and avoid the ROUTE page like the plague while the engines are running. Most of the time, I keep the COMs or the DATA page running on the right half of the lower MFD. I usually get a solid 30fps with occasional dips into the 15s-20s during climb/descent and even a rock-solid 50-60fps with engines shut down setting up the FMS, depending on the amount of traffic at the airport.

If it helps you find a proper setting, here are mine:

500Mbps download
16GB RC
SU7b 1.9.16.0
No cabin
Live Traffic
Live Weather
All Players
All settings Medium, except:

  • Services Quantity off
  • Parked Aircraft off
  • Fauna Density off

Also, what routes would you be flying with the A220? I can have a go on my end and report back if it starts to behave similarly.

did anybody try this thing on xbox fs20? Maybe it run’s better there…

Thank you for the tips. I gave it another try this morning in the no cabin model. I think a lot of my problems were because I had the flight plan page open in the FMC which seems to kill performance. I just had the perf page open instead. Once I was in the air, performance was much better. Still lower frames than I would like below 10000ft, but I would say acceptable.
