The terrain display on the Navigation Display (ND) is currently disabled in iniBuilds Airbus aircraft in MSFS 2024. This seems to be caused by a bug in the sim’s terrain data, which prevents the aircraft from using the required information.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Load any iniBuilds Airbus in MSFS 2024.
  2. Toggle the Terr on ND switch in the cockpit.

Expected Result: The terrain should appear on the Navigation Display.
Actual Result: No terrain data is displayed.

Additional Information:

  • This issue appears to be related to a bug in the sim’s terrain data, which affects the ability of the aircraft to access and display the terrain information.
  • It’s unclear exactly why the terrain data cannot be used by the aircraft, but the functionality remains unavailable despite proper configuration in the cockpit.

Btw, flying at the moment with a Fenix A320, this bird has the terrain displayed on ND.

This problem still exists in the SU1 beta.

Curious why this is still not being logged as a bug when iniBuilds states on their own forum that it’s an MSFS issue and not on their end.

STILL in the SU1 beta? Jesus

I was surprised to find that the terrain display does not work in the A330. Didn’t they demonstrate the terrain display working in the A320neo in one of the dev streams after launch?

The Fenix has its own dedicated terrain database that is independent of MSFS.

Did not know that, thanks. “Long live King Fenix.”

Not even in SU1 !
Come on, MS / Asobo!

not work on su2 too …

it s bad, a320 v2 is fantastic !

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• It’s not just terrain. On MSFS 2020, nearby traffic showed on the display. On MSFS 2024 there is no nearby traffic. Even after SU2.

And SU3 has not addressed it yet either.

I see SU4-Beta still did not address this issue

It is not something Asobo needs to “fix”, and is not something that can be addressed by any SU produced by Asobo.

Implementing a working terrain display is something that IniBuilds needs to do. A realistic EGPWS emulation would require the aircraft developer to supply a dedicated terrain database with the aircraft that is separate and independent of the sim’s own terrain. That is how a real EGPWS works, and is the method that developers like PMDG and Leonardo use for their 777 and MD80, and which Fenix uses for their A320

The sim’s own terrain can be used (and already is used) in all the default G-1000/G3000 aircraft, but that is emulating a type of terrain display called “TAWS”. A realistic-looking Airbus EGPWS emulation would require a separate dedicated terrain database. Trying to use the sim’s own terrain is not the right way to do it.

Is there any possibility of this feature will be available soon? Any words?

Description of the issue: Terrain Radar inoperative on all the default iniBuilds aircraft in MSFS2024(A310, A320 Neo v2, A330)

All the time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load any of the mentioned aircraft

  2. Turn on Terrain Radar

This is not an MSFS bug or anything that Asobo can do anything about. It would be up to IniBuilds, who is the developer of the Airbus 320/321 to implement a terrain display. It has been asked for many times on their forums and Discord, but I don’t think they intend to do it. No third party add on aircraft that have a working EGPWS terrain display uses the default MSFS terrain to do it. PMDG, Fenix, FSLabs, Leonardo, and IFly, all use a dedicated terrain database that is part of the aircraft. That is exactly how real aircraft EGPWS systems work. It is not any kind of “radar” - the terrain display comes from a digital database of worldwide elevation data that is linked to the aircraft’s GPS position, altitude and heading.

But wouldn’t using sim terrain data be a good enough compromise rather than not having any terrain data?
