Guys, please let me know if you get the same terrain quality as showing in my photo. I think that the textures could be moore crisp. My monitor is 1920x1080. Attched are my setrtings also.
Looks good for me so far.
Terrain Level of Detail set to 4.0 (400) in the usercfg.opt ?
Scott
Yes the usercfg is set to LoDFactor 4.000000. I just have the impression that before SU5 the terrain looked crisper.
Having been around since FS2002, I’d say that pic is pretty darn nice!
looks good to me, i see the same on console. 1k resolution.
what components do you have in your computer?
Did you set the slider to: at this point you need glasses, to on?
Lol I’m just messing with ya because it looks really good crisp. At least from this image. Are you seeing shimmers from your monitor?
Looking good to me - quality of ground really depends on the region. In the US you have large areas covered by okayish photogrammetry, in other regions like Spain you have cities with much more detail (in WU8 now).
Take a look for example on the terrain mesh of La Gomera and compare it with the Grand Canyon, you will notice much more fidelity on La Gomera as the overall mesh resolution is higher due to the data Asobo was able to get is better in quality
I have RTX 2060, Intel i7 9700 32GB RAM and ViewSonic 24" 144Hz monitor.
Here are some shots at La Gomera as you suggested. Can you please put some shots of La Gomera to see?
I think with texture sharpness peoples experience is going to vary massively. My eyesight used to be very good, not so good now. Size and quality of monitor.
This bit isn’t a criticism either because it takes all sorts to make the world go round but how discerning we are as individuals varies, some folk look at details others are more concerned with the bigger picture…i.e personality types.
So many factors involved in how folk perceive the quality of graphics.
Your screen shots look good to me…with less than optimal eyesight and a cheap 21" monitor.
There are two different LoDFactor variables in the UserCfg.opt. Your initial picture says that terrain LOD is at 200 and objects is at 400. That’s the opposite of what it should be for best terrain quality.
Someone said that terrain LOD could actually go up to a maximum of 5.9 or something. But be prepared for a serious MainThread hammering.
Should I decrease the OBJECT LEVEL OF DETAIL to 200 and Increase the TERRAIN LEVEL OF DETAIL to 400?
Those are the correct maximum values from the user interface yes.
{Terrain
LoDFactor 4.000000
}
{OffscreenTerrainPreCaching
Enabled 1
Quality 3
}
{ObjectsLoD
LoDFactor 2.000000
}
Your photos look a bit more crispier to mine. I also increased the LOD to 400 but did not make and big difference.
If you want it that crisp then you may need to precache the area using the manual cache, depending on your internet speed.
Here is what I have now (I have LOD at 300 because at 400 my FPS drop a bit) Should I change the Quality at 3?
Terrain LOD is the biggest performance affecting setting in the game, so yeah, you may have to adjust it depending on where you’re flying.
Also, you want Off Screen Terrain Precaching set to Ultra if you have plenty of VRAM. It goes against common logic but anything less than Ultra actually reduces my performance considerably.
Thanks for the info. So what setting must I adjust to get the Quality from 2 to 3? Must I change it in the UserConfic file?
